Mayor Fausta Oliver

Mayor Fausta Oliver (a.k.a. Faust)

Born to an odd couple, a Tiefling and an Orc, Fausta Oliver has had to deal with the jeers and insults of people her entire life, especially as The Border Wars orphaned her. But, she has always risen above and struck against those who would wrong her, and prove their insults and prejudices wrong.   Starting as a sheltered young girl, she turned to the faith of The Lone God of Boncly for security and comfort as the words cut deeper and the isolation seeped in further and found her strength in that devotion and ideal of faith, which is what led her to officially join the clerical system of Boncly when she came of age and has since risen through the ranks as a Nature Cleric of The Lone God.    Using the strength of her ideals and position in the clerical system, Fausta began to work towards a political goal in order to put her ideals and wishes for security and equality across all of her home territory, and even across all of Boncly, leading her to strive for the title of Mayor of Jess, which she obtained in the election season of 1005 AC.

CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION!

Just like all Mayors in Boncly, Fausta Oliver also takes on a position among the organization of The Sunsetters. She decided to become the Left-Hand of the current Sunsetter Head, Governor Jacob Morrison, working alongside Mayor Sayen Quidel.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Fausta Oliver has a strong physique and frame, with her unique Half-Orc, Half-Tiefling features very presently in her general frame. Even throughout her years of combat and struggle, her adept use of healing magic has reduced the strain on her body, leaving her with very few injuries that inhibit her.

Body Features

As a Half-Tiefling, she has stark white, straight horns coming from the top of her forehead, along with the unique star-shaped pupils in the center of her crimson eyes.

Facial Features

Along with her Tiefling features, Fausta also has a naturally wider nose from her mother, along with a set of sharp yet rounded teeth, which she's proud to bear in hearty smiles often.

Identifying Characteristics

If one misses her horns, eyes, or fangs, her sheer size and presence are a dead giveaway to who she is as a person, or at least what she's like.

Special abilities

Fausta has always had a peculiar tie to nature, even outside her Clerical abilities, to such an extent that she can almost talk to plants and animals, although it typically takes the form of empathic senses than actual dialogue.

Apparel & Accessories

Fausta tends to wear casual clothing when not doing specific work, with plenty of loose shirts and pants and black leather as well. Although she does have fitted suits for more formal affairs, and occasionally wears long dresses as well.   When on a clerical job, she has unique green and yellow cloth robes that mark her as a High Nature Priest of The Lone God.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Boncly has never been the place for strict oppression. In the days of The Grand Expulsion, the near-genocidal event that forced members of beast-like races on the run from most countries, it was even a haven. But an isolated and self-focused nation doesn't foster much acceptance either.   Therefore, even though the families of Mephisto Oliver and Jeanette Bolge had been in Boncly for generations, the fact that they were a Tiefling and Orc got them a lot of negative attention from their more bull-headed neighbors, who were mostly human.   Nonetheless, they found happiness and a living, and love with each other, and soon had their young child Fausta. Neither of them was quite sure how she would turn out, as genetics can be odd in general, but they were quite surprised when Fausta arrived with dark brown skin and rounded fangs, much like her mother, and pure white horns and star-shaped pupils, like her father.   They doted on the young girl and did their best to try and ensure her that, no matter what anyone said, she was beautiful and loved.   But this was all during the tumultuous times of The Border Wars, and eventually, the country of Boncly had to pull out all of the stops, especially as the country had just barely split from Agartha a few years before her birth. In the last few months of The Border Wars, Mephisto would lose his life in a battle with an Agarthan Mad Hound division, and Jeanette would die to illness while working in field hospitals, leaving Fausta entirely alone, with people who only knew to fear her.   Thankfully, she did have a ray of kindness amongst this. Once the war was over, a friend of her family, Orna Cassidy, would take the young Fausta into her orphanage in Butch, the city that Orna would eventually be Mayor of.   For the next eight years, Fausta would have to deal with the hurtful cries and taunts of townspeople, calling her a cursed child, a demon, a monster, a bad omen, and worse. But she tried to keep her head up high and believe in her parent's words, along with the positive help of Orna and the true teachings of The Lone God.   It was with his faith that she would discover her aptitude with clerical magic and her connection with Nature which she intended to flourish. Once she was 18, she decided to join The Lone Gods' faith officially, as a Nature Priest and began to rise the ranks that way.   Even during a time of peace, there were skirmishes with bandits both inside the country and on its borders, and even barring that, there were struggles with the forces of nature and those who defiled it, giving Fausta plenty of opportunities to prove her stuff, which she succeeded every time.   However, another problem ate at the corners of her thoughts, even as she achieved success in her clerical career. She thought about all of the people like her, hated and insulted day in and day out, and it drove her spirit to do something about it.   So she returned to Jess, her hometown, and began to rally people behind her. Jess had always been a varied place, due to its proximity to the island nation of Alicein and its varied people, so it wasn't hard for her to get supporters.   Finally, when the position became open in 1005 AC, she grasped the title of Mayor with both hands, and won't be letting go until her legal time is up.

Gender Identity

Fausta was assigned Female at birth, and while she doesn't seem to mind being referred to that way, she also doesn't align herself with that identity much either, and accepts either She/Her/Hers or They/Them/Theirs pronouns.

Sexuality

Fausta Oliver is a proud member of the Lesbian community. She is even married to a former political competitor, Mahalia Lewis.

Education

As a young child, Fausta was educated by her family in their spare time, and learned a lot about agriculture, as her father was not only a prolific farmer but a Druid as well, so his ties to nature were immaculate.   Once orphaned, she was able to join regular public education, along with the religious education at the orphanage. Following her years there, all of her education has been practical learning in life and the field, including her run for Mayor, as her platform was more based on the heart of it all rather than official politics, but she's had plenty of time to brush up on the essentials since then.

Employment

When she was 16 years old, Fausta began to work as an aide to Orna Cassidy as a beginning to her clerical duties. At 18 she specifically joined the Nature Cleric division of the church and began to work on the specific duties of that branch (pun slightly intended) of faith.   In the years that followed, she has had many duties, from natural disaster relief and intense healing to flower planting and irrigation planning, so she has a 'Jack of All Trades' mentality.   As the Mayor of Jess, she keeps up her large variety of skills and tasks by helping around the territory wherever she can, but keeps her time mostly in the main city.   As third-in-command of the secretive Sunsetters, most of her duties there are bureaucratic in nature, although she does oversee a lot of the recruitment side of things.

Accomplishments & Achievements

There are many accomplishments that Fausta could boast about, and she does very easily! Among her favorites are
  • The time she settled an argument between 4 Night Hags fairly, without getting cursed
  • The time she relocated a family of Dryads to another orchard because their roots were getting into the water supply
  • One time where she had to fight off a juvenile dragon single-handedly for 3 hours and won
  • And especially the time she claims to have lost her arm in a fight with a Devil, proceeded to beat him to death with her severed arm, and then put the arm back on herself.
No one knows if they're true, but her sheer energy and confidence certainly make them seem true.

Failures & Embarrassments

Fausta does her best to reconcile her mistakes and failings as lessons and move on, but she finds it hardest when it has cost other people dearly. When she couldn't heal an innocent person, or an ally lost their life in a treacherous fight, or when she couldn't save a piece of honored nature, those take their toll on her for quite a while.

Mental Trauma

While she has tried to move on from the jeers and insults of her youth, she still is sensitive to criticism, and hyper-vigilant towards insults, to the point where it can be seen as excessive aggression. She's also more than a little stubborn about getting things done her way, as she has lost too many allies in the past.

Intellectual Characteristics

Fausta doesn't seem outwardly like a very intelligent person. She isn't dumb by any means, but she doesn't seem to be scholarly either. However, when it comes to planning anything she's a strong strategist, whether it's combat, infrastructure, or even party planning.

Morality & Philosophy

Fausta Oliver's greatest ideal in life is that all things are unquestionably equal and that bearing hate towards someone on the basis of their race, gender, orientation, etc is a moral failing of the highest degree. She also believes that words can only do so much and that at the end of the day when it comes to minor squabbles, might makes right. Although that second point isn't entirely the truth. She just feels that once the adrenaline gets pumping, you start to think about what really matters, and you can either come to an agreement or realize that the problem wasn't that big to begin with.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Fausta wishes to create a fair and just society for everyone and anyone in Boncly, and even beyond that as the country rethinks their isolationist stance.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Fausta can handle just about any task you throw at her with decent instruction, although her greatest struggle is keeping on task with bureaucratic work for long periods at a time.
