Jess

A small territory on the western-most side of Boncly, it's considered an idyllic Farmers City, and juts itself against the coast of the Arcanoterran Ocean, and only a stones throw away from the island Country of Alicein.

Demographics

Like all of Boncly, Jess is mostly Human and those of Human descent, but there's also a great amount of other races, as anyone can farm, and the presence of a Half-Orc Mayor brings many of those same people to the territory.

Government

Mayor Fausta Oliver keeps a friendly but firm hand over the city during her reign as Mayor, which began in 1005 AC, and makes sure that each plot of land and set of people has a voice, but she does not have any patience for pointless squabbles or finger-pointing, and has the ideal of "If it's too petty for the law, just fight it out!" Although she has mandated that a Cleric, or at least someone who can heal, be on scene for any arranged duels.

Defences

Jess doesn't have much in the way of defenses, being a peaceful land in the middle of the rest of Boncly's territories. But the populous there work each and every day, and regularly have shows of physical strength to solve petty arguments, so they aren't untrained.

Industry & Trade

Agriculture is Jess' greatest trade. Within it's territory there are Crop Farms, Orchards, Vineyards, even Animal Farming aplenty. This leaves it rather barren in it's other industries for the most part, requiring trade and buisness with other territories, and lately other countries, but the consistent quality and fertility of the land makes it so that they always have a quality bargaining chip.

Infrastructure

Jess is a simple territory without many points of Infrastructure, outside of the mills throughout the land, and some manner of arcane power in the main city, alongside plumbing that became country-mandate recently.

Guilds and Factions

The only notable faction within Jess is The Farmers Druidic Circle, a group of simple yet experienced Druids that seek to keep the land safe, healthy, and vitalized for farming.

History

Jess, in one way or another, has always been active in Boncly, even when it was a part of Agartha, and the rest of the world has changed around it. It was marked as it's own territory in 965 AC, shortly after Boncly itself came to be.

Tourism

Many people who visit Jess for tourism go because it's a calm and relaxing place to be, where not much happens outside of neighborly brawls and celebrations of harvests. That isn't to say the area isn't without it's struggles and issues, but many find it a stress-free alternative to other cities in Boncly and beyond. Not to mention, the Jess Orchard Gold Apples are renowned throughout Edda.

Architecture

The homesteads of Jess, including the main city, are typically made from strong wood from the sparse amount of trees located within Boncly, although in more modern times following The Border Wars, imports from outside Boncly have been used as well.

Geography

The land marked off as the Jess Territory is entirely a grassy flatland, with the main river that runs through Boncly being on the edge of it's eastern "border". However, underground rivers that spawn from that main one stretch from the source all the way west to the ocean, keeping the ground fertile.

Natural Resources

Jess' Farmland is it's greatest resource, a fertile and enriched stretch of plain, with underground rivers giving way to consistent and good yields year after year.
