There’s no denying she appeara peculiar to those around her. Family considers her the oddball, the eccentric; believing that she spends far too much time with the books. She is a Magus in a world where she has no support and feels completely misunderstood. There is no one to answer her questions or help her explore the mysteries she sees within the folds of darkness. She struggles to hold onto what is real and feels that her sanity is slowly slipping away while secretly experimenting within hidden laboratories, and those struggling with a knowledge and talent she often wishes she could forget.

She keeps her own personal library that she keeps hidden within her home. This is a small collection of books where she has made notes from other books and collected information to help her better understand what she is. These books include general information on Sonohoka Syndrome, Zombies and The Others. It also includes her personal notes regarding the things that she has experimented with in order to better understand her abilities.

Brass Knuckles

She carries brass knuckles on her that she can magically enhance. She feels that these are easy weapons to conceal, but can really help her if she were ever to get attacked. She hasn't ever been attacked, but it could happen.

Augment
An augment weapon uses her unarmed strike damage dice. An unarmed strike can only benefit from one augment weapon per hit. By using an augment weapon, she is still counted as being unarmed.
Finesse
When making an attack with a finesse weapon, she can use her choice of her Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage rolls. She must use the same modifier for both rolls.
Light
A light weapon is small and easy to handle, making it ideal for use when fighting with two weapons.

Alchemist’s Supplies

Alchemist’s supplies enables her to produce useful concoctions, such as acid or alchemist’s fire.
Components. Alchemist’s supplies include two glass beakers, a metal frame to hold a beaker in place over an open flame, a glass stirring rod, a small mortar and pestle, and a pouch of common alchemical ingredients, including salt, powdered iron, and purified water.
Arcana. Proficiency with alchemist’s supplies allows her to unlock more information on Arcana checks involving potions and similar materials.
Investigation. When she inspects an area for clues, proficiency with alchemist’s supplies grants additional insight into any chemicals or other substances that might have been used in the area.
Alchemical Crafting. She can use this tool proficiency to create alchemical items. She can spend money to collect raw materials, which weigh 1 pound for every 50 gp spent. She can make a check using the indicated skill with advantage. As part of a long rest, she can use alchemist’s supplies to make one dose of acid, alchemist’s fire, antitoxin, oil, perfume, or soap. Subtract half the value of the created item from the total gp worth of raw materials she is carrying.

Personal history

Her Tuner abilities woke during puberty. She was old enough to understand that these abilities were feared and hated by the people that she lived with. She knew that those around her would consider her something that needed to be erased or fixed. She was someone that they believed needed The Cure. She has been hiding her abilities since she has discovered them, terrified of what might happen if someone would discover her secret.

Background: Intellectual

It’s not a matter of how smart she is but more her choice to never stifle her curiosity about the world. There are times that she has reflected and questioned if that curiosity has served her well, but she has never denied that she must follow it. She always asked questions. If parents didn’t satisfy, she pestered teachers, and when they failed, she took matters in her own hands and embraced books. She spent much of her time as a child in the library. Regardless of her capacity to solve a problem or retain complex theories, she refuses to accept an explanation without evidence. This acts in opposition to her upbringing in the Church of Hope where ignorance and blind faith can be the norm. She embraces change because it is something that cannot be avoided. It is as essesntial to life as breathing.

Life Events

1. Tragedy: Debt

Living on her own was very important to her. The longer she shared a home with others the more risk she had of her abilities being discovered. Because of this, she borrowed credits to get into her own apartment. She couldn't afford it, but she felt that she didn't have a choice. Now she owes Levi Aislin Power 2000 credits for her housing and has no good plan for paying him back.

2. Windfall: Informant

She is a sex worker in order to earn the money that she needs to keep Levi Aislin Power from out right killing her. One of her regular clients, Christine Louis Segers, is a Doctor and likes her enough that she will give her information or services for extra favors during their sessions. Elen can go to the Doctor for Medicine Skill favors (either information or healing services) in exchange for sexual favors once a week. This has proven useful given that she lives a rather risky life style and cannot afford a Doctor's services otherwise.

3. Enemy: Levi Aislin Power

He is a powerful man who has plenty of people working for him. He is dangerous and owing him money is even more dangerous. She has no doubt that he is an enemy that cannot be trusted. He will keep her around as long as he believes that he can bleed her for something useful and then he will completely detroy her.

4. Windfall: Education Grant

She was seen to have potential and was given an education grant. This allowed her to continue her training as a Scribe. Proficiency in performance and alchemcy supplies.

5. Windfall: Cybernetic Gift

Her romance with Christine Louis Segers allowed her access to getting cybernetic emplants that she would not normally have the ability to afford. She had an Implanted Computer placed into her brain along with an upgrade, granting her +4 Intelligence.

6. Tragedy: Addiction

She tried a number of things to help her keep her abilities in check and drugs were amongst those things. While none of these drugs helped with her abilities, the Cannabis helped with all the fear and anxiety that she was living with. it didn't take long for it to become a permant part of her life. Now it is something that she needs just to feel normal. If she goes without the Cannabis for 24 hours, she is poisoned until her addiction is satisfied.

She has become absent minded because of the cannabis use. She will forget that she needed to do something, misplace important items and loose track of what she was doing. She has a difficult time maintaining her focus on anything outside of her reading and there are times that evening reading can be difficult. She experiences time blindness. She often looses track of how much time has passed and misjudges how long something will take her to complete. She is indecisive. She can have dramatic mood swings. She has a constant underlying irritability. She has become paranoid.

Physical symptoms of cannabis addiction:

• Fatigue and lethargy
• Excessive sleepiness

7. Friendship

While she has found that she generally cannot trust the people that live in Camp Hope, she has come to believe that 2461252 is different. Perhaps it is because they are a machine. Maybe that mean they also understand what it is like to be different. Perhaps they are just programmed to be that way. She doesn't know and finds that she really doesn't care why they are the way they are. She trusts them. They are the only person in the camp that knows about her abilities and they have advised her to leave the camp to find a better place to live. The idea both frigthens and thrills her.

8. Romance: Nissa Kennard

Nissa is her mentor Scribe. They work together every day. She is older. She is a woman. She is from an important family. She is everything that Elen can't have. She has never made her love known to Nissa as she is sure that it would only result in rejection. Even if Nissa could love her back, how could she pursue such feelings when she is in the Kennard Family? It would never be allowed. So, Elen does evertyhing that she can to make Nissa's life easier and to be of service to her mentor. She does her best to bottle up her feelings and hopes that someday, there will be a world where people like her can thrive.

9. Tragedy: Pursued by Criminals

Her Cannabis habit has led her again to Levi Aislin Power who has been happy to supply her. This has added to her debt. She owes him another 5000 credits for Cannabis. Now, his flunkies are always around, looking for money and she rarely has any to give them.

10. Tragedy: Fear

Living in fear is taking it's toll. She wakes every morning with a jerking start, certain that someone has come to kill her or expell her from the camp. She has social anxiety and will begin to sweat whenever someone asks her personal questions. Those kinds of questions always lead her mind into a paranoid spiral: Are they suspicious? Why do they want to know anything about me? What if I say something wrong? These are minor manifestations that don't affect her significantly, but the perceptive notice. DC perception 15 will notice that she is sweating and DC 15 insight will reveal that she is nervous.

Personal Motivation

She is conflicted with her motivations. On the one hand, she wants to be allowed to live in an authentic way. On the other hand, she cares about the people that are in Camp Hope. Yet, she is able to recognize that the people that she cares about are the people that are opressing her and keeping her from living the way that she would like to. She can also see that she cannot live with these people and live the way that she wants to live. She fully understands that the world isn't going to suddenly change in a dramatic way and allow her to have this perfection world she so frequently imagines. Her internal conflict requires that she make a choice between the people that she cares about and herself. She knows that once she makes this choice that she will never to unmake it or take it back. She can already tell that she will be choosing herself when she finally takes the plunge, but she just isn't quite ready to take that last step... She isn't even sure what that last step would be.

Hygiene

She is usually unkempt and dishevled. She often forgets to take care of her physical self. Her body feels like an object outside of herself that she is required to carry around with her in order to get from one place to the next. But she is often so caught up in the things happening in her mind that she forgets that she needs to take care of her body. Additionally, her addiction has caused her to have fatigue that often leads her to feeling that she doesn't have the energy to waste on her hygiene. She makes herself do the essentials. So she doesn't usually smell bad, but she never presents well.

Draws beautifully. She has never shown her art to anyone. But within her secret collection of books she has several sketch books that she has filled with her anatomical sketches and drawings of things that she has seen within the Void or her dreams. All of her notebooks are filled with sketches to further capture her ideas. She doesn't consider this a particularly important talent, rather something that she finds useful for gathering and recording information.
