Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics reemerged in the heart of the territory formerly occupied by the Soviet Union, from which they have inherited most of their creed and symbolism, yet with important differences. Today the Eurasian Sector is itself an energy superpower, having transitioned from exporting natural gas and petroleum to manufacturing fusion reactors and dark matter cores. The USSR flag integrates the colors of the former Union State, with red symbolizing the lives lost in the Great War, and gold representing the promising future ahead for the Eurasian people.
Structure
The main executive branch of the Soviet Union is known as the Council of People's Commissars. It is responsible for the general administration of the affairs of the state and is comprised of People's Commissariats and State Committees of the Soviet Union.

History
In a world slowly recovering from war, the Red Army could have very well dedicated themselves to pillage, or the law of the jungle, but a visionary came forth: General Arkadiy Radimov, creator of the doctrine of Reborn Communism. He saw the apocalypse as an opportunity to rise from the ashes, like a phoenix, and bring Communism to life in a way that wasn't possible in the formerly super populated world. He quickly united the Red Army under one flag, and they restored order in the land. Those were hard, tough years of war and conquest, but from the ashes of the Soviet Union, the USSR was revived.
Today, the USSR is one of the most powerful states on the face of the Earth. They are a militarized society, who live by a special interpretation of Communist precepts. It doesn't exactly mirror the Marxist-Leninist origins of Communism.
Military
The Soviet Armed Forces includes: the Red Army, the Red Navy and the Red Air Force. Technologically the Soviet Union is somewhat behind the other major human powers, but the old adage that 'quantity has a quality all of its own' still holds true in interstellar warfare. Soviet military technology therefore emphasizes reliability, ease of production and raw power. Soviet equipment is tried and true, and almost never breaks down. The Soviet Military Doctrine revolved around the concept of superior firepower, ground supremacy, numerical superiority of swarming thousand of soldiers of the Red Army and reliance on highly advanced but conventionally based technologies, relying primarily on heavy armor divisions, but the Soviets were known for employing cheap infantry in the role of armor support. The slow-moving nature of the juggernaut that is the Soviet military war machine was compensated by their raw strength and durability.
The Red Army adapted to the transition to space by simply increasing its size. Problem spots and conflicts are dealt with by massed deployments of troops of varying quality and experience. The Red Army operate on a rotating conscription system that sees thousands of men and women drafted for basic training in massed Infantry Regiments. Armor is produced in its millions for Red Army tank divisions, all following standard patterns. The elite of the Red Army, the Guards Brigades, are almost as numerous as their fellows; veterans equipped with the best the Union has to offer, these forces operate as the more fine tuned elements of what is effectively a military sledgehammer. The cumbersome might of the Red Army is its main strength, but it is not incapable of operations of considerable complexity and finesse. More often than not, however, these more delicate operations are merely side-shows to the massed assaults that can overwhelm unprepared (and sometimes even prepared) enemies in a matter of days. The Soviet Union is famed for the use of 'political officers' or commissars within its military, and they are most often found in the Red Army.
Trade & Transport
The Soviet Union maintains a planned economy under which the production and distribution of goods is centralized and directed by the government. Like the other major superpowers, the Soviet Union is entirely self-sufficient, although foreign trade still exists under a state monopoly. The major strength of the Soviet economy is its near limitless reserves of oil, gas, and natural resources, owing to its immense territorial claims.
