Though initially baffled by its origins, Oviron explorers became convinced that the cache was the work of an infamous pirate, Captain Ness, whose legendary treasure hoard was whispered about in myths and scattered historical records.
The true breakthrough came in 2202 FS with the development of hyperdrive technology. For the first time, the Oviron could follow the charted coordinates and uncover the mysteries left behind by those who had once placed the artifact in their orbit. The first interstellar expeditions brought the Oviron into contact with other civilizations, leading to a period of careful diplomacy and measured expansion. Among the first to make official contact was the United Federation of Nations (UFN), a coalition dedicated to interstellar unity and cooperation.
