The older sister of Atheneis Majara. Annannara is tall, buxom redhead with a ready smile and a warm, confident style. She usually wears the flowing green robes of the Cult of the Mother Goddess Khanna. When expecting a fight, she dresses in tough leather garments that provide her with some protection. She typically carries a bag of herbs for making potions and various medical uses. Annannara not only uses healing magic, but she is a skilled surgeon and apothecary. She acts as the main provider of medical care for the Royal Family. Annannara does not flaunt her title of Grand-Duchess and is not overly interested in the formality of court. Like her sister, she is generally persistent in her endeavors, but knows how to avoid crossing people and is generally very perceptive about the motives of others. She is highly concerned with protecting her sister’s interests, but also vigorously supports Willamina as well. Her affections are split between Lord Sarkand, her husband and Willamina. Annannara remains heavily involved in the Khanna faith. She has organized a Royal Coven, which is made up of a number of members of the Royal family and other members of the Imperial Household. With Atheneis’ backing she has encouraged the formation of other covens throughout the Empire. Annannara ran away from home at age 16, fearing her father was about to marry her off against her will. She joined the Cult of the Khanna the Mother where learned witchcraft and healing skills. She was reunited with Atheneis shortly before her journey north to the Faroo. At court she has had a long-term romantic relationship with Willamina, despite her two marriages to men. Annannara currently has apartments at the Royal Palace in Landor and has built a woodland lodge named Morja Annannara (Annannara's Hall). The lodge as used as the main base for the Royal Coven. Annannara initially built her personal wealth through adventuring, but now has interests in shipping, cattle and rents farmland. (RC)

In the fields she will wear close fitting leather garments including high boots, breeches, a tunic, wide belt and a heavy fur trimmed cloak. At court occasion she tends to wear formal dresses with flared sleeves, a v-shaped neckline and a full skirt.

She wears a cloak and bracers the give her magical protections from attack, carries a bag of herbs and other materials for making magical substances, a bag of medical materials such bandages, curatives, purgatives, natural birth control etc..

Education

As a girl she received basic education from tutors hired by her father. She became interested in the Khanna sect. She began to receive religious and magical training from Isendra, a local witch. When she decided to runaway to avoid being married off Isendra arranged for her to join a coven in Lanco. Here she continued her training and became a practicing priestess of Khanna. After he coven was destroyed and she joined her sister she has continued to to educate herself by accumulating a considerable library of magical, religious, medical and alchemical lore.

Employment

Annannara is a priestess of Khanna (the priestesses are generally referred to as witches), she serves as the royal doctors and as an advisor to her sister, the Empress. When Atheneis is out of Landor she often serves as chief of the Regency Council.

Failures & Embarrassments

Being caught having an affair with her sister's High Queen Willamina. The relationship has since become an accepted feature of the Royal court, but at the time was an explosive incident between the two sisters. Her first marriage is also a notable failure, Annannara having given up on her first husband out of boredom.

Motivation

Annannara sees her two most important roles in life as being a devoted preistess of Khanna and a leader of her clan.  She functions as her sister, the Empress', closest amd most trusted advisor.  She takes her role as a parent very seriously, even though all her children are now adults.  In many ways she sees the women of her coven as her extneded family (several of them are her niecies).

Clean, she will bathe even if the water is very cold. Chews mint for fresh breathe and likes to scent herself with lavender.

Annannara is very close with Queen Willamina and her side of the Imperial Household, but is guarded and suspicious of Queen Floret's wing, although she usually manages to be a good aunt to her nieces on that side of the family.

Annannara is the leading advocate for the worship of Khanna at the Imperial Court and makes sure its voice is heard with the government of the Empire. She also sees the relationship between the faith and the Empress as a way of dmeosntrating the Empire's love for the common people.

Annannara is generally warm and good natured. People feel safe around her. She is not hugely interested in court life but loves the dances and the access it gives her to beautiful and interesting women.

History

The two sisters were very close during their childhood and early teenage years. Their mother ran away when the girls were 6 and 8. Their father was distant and increasingly saw them as assets that could be bartered away in a political marriage. Separated by only two years they played and were educated together. With Atheneis' foreknowledge, at age 16 Annannara ran away from home to avoid marriage. Annannara had somewhat vague plans for Atheneis to join her once she managed to get herself established. These plans went astray and the two sisters did not see each other again for seven years. At this time Atheneis rescued Annannara from certain death and she joined her on her expedition north to the Faroo. After Atheneis conquered the Faroo she made Annannara Grand Duchess.

History

The relationship between the two women began about a year after Willamina married Annannara's sister, the Empress Atheneis Majara. At first the relationship was covert, but Atheneis eventually caught them together. For a time Atheneis forced them to breakoff the relationship, but overtime the Empress became convinced she could except their affair and allowed them to renew their romantic relationship. This relationship became general knowledge after the birth of Kirena, who was conceived through Willamina's use of the spell of change ot impregnate Annannara.
