Yolen Majara
Baron Yolen Elleos Majara
Yolen was the third in his line to rule the mountain Barony of Majara. The Baronyw as established by Yolen's Grandfather Gellin, a successful mercenary Captain with the encouragement of an association of Goutaran merchants. The merchants wished to establish a group of independent baronies that would police and maintain the Great North Road and thus secure the cross-mountain trade. Gellin took control of a mountain valley that offered arable land and good grazing along the lower slopes. A castle was eventually built on a well situated shelf of land overlooking the valley and was named the Castle Majara.
Yolen grew up in the castle and succeeded to title of Baron at age 27 after his father was lost while hunting in an early fall mountain storm and died of exposure. Yolen met, seduced and married the adventuress Morwynn Skaith. The couple had two daughters, Annannara and Atheneis. By the time second child was born Morwynn was growing increasingly disenchanted with life in the isolated valley, raising children and Yolen constant affairs. Eventually she left without warning leaving her husband and children.
Yolen was content to maintain his lands, but felt increasingly disappointed at the prospect of having a female heir. He recognizes two of his bastard sons then married their mother, who later died giving birth to a stillborn third child. Yolen made the decision to strengthen his position by marrying his daughters to other Mountaineer barons. Annannara frustrated this plan by running away at age 16 and joining a coven of Khanna worshiping witches. He was on the verge of deliverying his second daughter, Atheneis to be married to Baron Antar when his party was ambushed by the Bandit Lord Galnor. Yolen and his two sons were killed in the ensuing clash as were most of Yolen's retainers. Galnor kidnapped Athenies with the plan of forcing her into marriage and seizing the Barony. The plan fell apart when Atheneis escaped Galnor's camp. Galnor did manage to seize the castle, but was promptly evicted by a coalition of Mountaineer barons and fled the region. Atheneis joined the Alyite Order and began a career as an Alyite officer.
