Saint Valgamora
Saint of Smiths, Smithy's and Miners (a.k.a. Valga)
Valgamora Blessed-Shield is a Saint the Pantheon of the God of Order, and is a daughter of Godric. She is the Saint of Smiths, Smithy's, and Miners, and is often worshipped by many tinkerers and other craftspeople.
Before her ascension to Sainthood, she was a lowly miner in small town, long forgotten in the The World's Edge Mountains. The town was controlled by the Greater Daemon Moth'Taron, and produced many weapons for use by his agents. The mines of the town ran deep, so deep that new and amazing metals were uncovered by the miners, today known as Sun-Steel, for when exposed to light it glows in brilliant light. The miners horded this metal in secret, under the leadership of their oldest kin, Valgamora of Clan Grimshoulder. In the darkest and most secret caverns of the mines, she crafted a forge, where she painstakingly and singlehandedly learned to master the forging of sun-steel. With prayers and skill she even was the founder of contemporary enchanting, carving magical runes into the steel.
Some thought she would forge weapons, great ones to help the dwarves of the mine rise up against their daemon overlords. But no, instead she forged halo-like rings. Many dwarves were angry at this, but she refused to explain why, for fear the secrets of her work would spread. She eventually forged 20 sun-steel headbands, with enchantments that would allow the wearer to see through any magical deception, and see the world exactly as it was. This proved a more valuable tool than any axe or shield, as when the dwarven miners finally emerged from their mines, they realized that Moth'Taron had not been forcing them to stay in there at all. He had surplanted their minds to BELIEVE that they were being imprisoned, when none actually existed. The Dwarven miners of this long lost town eventually joined the great crusade, and helped liberate their brethren from other underground holds.
In recognition of her great skill and service the the god of order, she was raised to sainthood.
Today, she remains an example to all Dwarves of the importance of seeing through and being wary of deception. In addition, she is an example of self-motivation, having learned advanced skills on her own. She is the epitome of any craftsmen, not only creating fabulous works, but doing so to better the lives of your kin.
