Saint Ecclesius (Ek-Lee-See-Us)
Saint of Knowledge, Truth, and Tactics
Saint Ecclesius is the Saint of Knowledge, Truth, and Tactics. He was the chief engineer of the city of Eipcrotea, when it was beseiged by the daemons of the North in the first counter-attack, against the first crusade. The Saints had left to the South the fight the hosts of Karnifex, and so the city was left to it's own devices. the city had only 1000 defenders against an army of 20000 daemons and the Greater Daemon Karnifex himself. Ecclesius, in the first 3 days of the siege was the first to develop alchemist's fire, and developed a multi-tiered system of defence which would have Daemon's clump up against temporary walls, to be struck by walls of alchemist's fire in great waves.
Normally fire would not work on daemons, but he had the fire blessed by the local priestess of St. Aethelstan, after which the fire burned with a holy light which could not be resisted by the daemons. It was his knowledge, intuition, and mind for tactics, that saved the city. In recognition of his miraculous actions on behalf of the people, St. Aethelstan asked Godric to raise him to Sainthood. He is now the patron saint of engineers, architects, tacticians, and other academic fields. He is frequently worshipped in the Empire, as they hope to follow his example in defending their own cities today.
