Theo's Puzzle

The following is an unauthorized digital letter sent by the notorious criminal Theo (Itera X-21) to his family's Kinderwuhn Sharp (Itera X-22), aged 5 milos at the time. It was sent during his Scholar days, while he was on a nine-year no-contact Earth leave. The actual message is hidden inside a puzzle document that must be solved in order to find and open it.

Hey Sharp,   Hope you liked this puzzle! I've been looking forward to sending it. How long did it take you? Probably like thirty seconds, huh? I'll have to step up my game once I get back.   I wish I could send more, but I'm not supposed to contact Citadel while I'm on Earth leave. It's pretty lonely up here in the mountains. I keep thinking about you, wondering if you're doing alright by yourself.   Listen, if Grey's been giving you a hard time just remember: you're a good kid. What anyone else might think doesn't matter. I know you, Sharp. You're going to do great things and change that place for the better. I'm sure of it.   Anyway, I've gotta get back to work. Those souls won't study themselves. Can't wait to see you again.

Theo

Level 3

One of these images will help you find the message. The other will lead you astray.   Use this and your previous answers to figure out where the message is hidden.

very curious! I think I got the first two right...the third one is strange, Are the pictures supposed to link somewhere? or is all the information we need right there in the image to be decoded? I tried other answers and realized I was correct the first time around, but I'm still uncertain about the final challenge. Super clever concept, though! <3

There is no need to follow any external links (I only left the image links in because adding "nolink" broke the spoiler). You've probably figured out that the spoiler heading is a hint. Try and keep it in mind when trying to figure out what in the images you should be paying attention to.   Also this has helped me realise I should make the text in that section a bit clearer, so thank you!

lol ooooo I got it! that was quite a challenge but I'm sure it did only take Sharp thirty seconds ;)

Yay, so glad to hear!

Okay I give up I only ever get "incorrect" what ever combination of 123ABC I try. But to be honest I've no clue what I'm supposed to be doing even.

Thank you for the feedback! Is there anything I could add to the article that you think would make the puzzles' objectives (or the puzzle document as a whole) clearer?

I love the idea...but can't work out what to do. Like Jacob-W I keep getting 'Incorrect' for the first bit whatever I click on. And I didn't want to move on to the other parts unless I'd got the first bit correct.

That's very odd... the correct "Guilty" link in the first part should take you straight to the second part. The first "Result" spoiler shouldn't be visible on-screen. Is the "Dimensions" puzzle right at the top when you click on one of the "Guilty" links? If it is, then that means you got the right answer and made it to the second part. I've tested it on both desktop and mobile and for me it works the way I've described.   If the second Result button is the source of the confusion, I might try removing it and making all incorrect answers link to the first one. I'll post an update when I do so you can see if it helps.

It's a bit difficult to explain what I'm seeing but I've managed to take a screenshot that shows the first part of the puzzle that I can see. If you want me to send it to you...let me know where to send it to...perhaps through Discord?

I've restructured the puzzle document to make minimal use of anchor links. It should flow better now and be much clearer when you've gotten an answer right! Try it again if you like and let me know if it's any better. You can still send me the screenshot, though - I'm "DreamCartographer | Aurora" on the World Anvil server.

All good now...such a great idea! :)

Thank you! Did you manage to solve it?

This is such a cool idea! Finding the right answer to level 1 was entirely trial and error for me, not sure if there's a logic/clue I didn't pick up on. Is there a way we know if we "got it" after level 3? It'd be neat if clicking on the images somehow gave further insight into the puzzle/message, whether in the image description or if you set the Link URL for the image to go somewhere that provided more info :) but that's also me desperately wanting to know what this hidden message says.

Thanks for the feedback! The first level is one version of a well-known riddle, but I should probably add the parameters to it to make it more clear. You'll know you got it when you click on a certain part of the puzzle document and the message appears. The image clicking thing isn't a bad idea! I'll have to think about how to make that useful. Thanks again!

The added parameters to level 1 clears everything up for me :) well done!

This is outstanding! It took me a while to figure it out, but I wasn't giving up until I did. Good job.

I do enjoy a good puzzle here and there and a secret message in it makes it all the more rewarding once you solve it well done.

May you forever find your way on the journey you set out on and make yourself greater.
