Maeve Ainros o Timber

Queen Maeve Ainros- Timber

Queen to Gwydion the Great.   Mother to Golbran, called the Ruby Prince, who was slain in the Southern Rebellion. Mother to Nev, who was wed to Lord Cenegar Han'dylth. Mother to Geralt, called the Black Dog, who was slain in the Southern Rebellion. Mother to Ruarc, called the Crown Killer, who served as Regent. Mother to Aevin, who was known as the Cargo Queen in @Ethelbran.   Maeve was the second daughter to King Furion VI Timber and his wife Queen Imogen of Clan Blackwood. Maiar the Blind records that in youth she was "fond of spells," but the meaning of this is unclear. Maiar also calls her a "vibrant and kind child, energetic but obedient, with a gift for flowers."   King Furion VI was negotiating for Maeve's betrothal to a second son of Sir Toma Feylder, brother to the Chief of Clan Feylder. Such a marriage was well below a princess, yet the Timbers had hoped to bind themselves to the Yvrulians, considered by all to be the elite and most powerful peoples of Milos. What Prince Allad, the Mox Master, had said to change Furion's mind is unknown, but the Timbers would soon decide that a king in the south was better than a knight's son in the east. Maeve was promised to young King Gwydion, though she would not come to Revelback until she came of age. The Timbers did send many foodstuffs south from Madport to Dubraigh, as this was the year of the Dry Winter in the south. Revellia gained desperately needed grains, and Clan Feylder lost a bride. Kyu Yev Quarry postulates that this slight may have contributed to the Southern Rebellion years later.   When Maeve was finally brought down for the lavish wedding ceremony, many called it an attempt to distract from an unpopular reign. The new Wizard, Penny the Wise, had failed to adequately salve the damage of the Dry Winter, and Prince Allad was likewise blamed for this failure. Even the young King was not exempted from scorn. Yet if it was a distraction, it was a successful one. Green eyes were a rarity in Revellia at the time, as evidenced by the dozen or more songs that were chanted of the new queen, including "The Spring-Eyed Queen," "With Her Came Spring," "Green as Summer Grass," and of course "Spring Light in her Eyes," which would become famous again a century later when repurposed by the magician Liisha the Lutenist (or Liisha the Looter) during the Winter Riots of 935 RA.
