Kurnek Ainros called the Usurper

King Kurnek Ainros (a.k.a. The Cur King)

Reign: 732 RA - 733 RA*
Wizards: Fuia the Small   Son to King Maitiu Ainros and Queen Kirin Rutach. Brother to King Redham. Uncle to King Griin, whose crown he stole from the succession.   Kurnek is largely considered a footnote in the succession. He crowned himself at the same time King Oran Wulk of Dubraigh did, and Oran's son Otgam won the war.   Like Harrek the Thief, Kurnek was the Chief Justicar to King Griin and crowned himself upon his king's death. Griin had three sons, but the eldest was only five. It may be Kurnek meant only to continue the Ainros line and feared the dead king's sons could not stand against Clan Wulk. He announced his intent to marry Griin's widow, Queen Silve. Much to his dismay, Silve managed to orchestrate the escape of all seven of her daughters and two of her three sons (the eldest son died protecting the escape of the other two). Despite her suspicions of Kurnek, Silve herself remained and allowed herself to be wedded to him.   Kurnek was soon overwhelmed by western forces and besieged at Aerwoth. The Beths did nothing to help, and the Elkwoods of Berleigh were themselves besieged by Khabarese soldiers with whom Dubraigh had allied. Kurnek was taken and hanged from the battlements "like a cur," ending his brief reign and (so all assumed) the memory of the Ainros dynasty.   * Kurnek has been stricken from all official records, and his reign is not considered a true one.
