High Hostel of Dorreon

The Center of Hostly Power in the South

Constructed over the course of fifteen years and completed in 955 RA, the High Hostel of Dorreon, also called the High Hostel of Revelback, is the primary seat of Hostly influence in Southern Milos. Host Keeping has been in great decline for centuries in Urudun, where Satar worship is predominant, and is likewise subdued in Bastis due to a resurgence in Deinain worship and Ethel, where they say the people worship money and naught else.   Named for Dorreon the Magnificent, the High Hostel began construction as a response to the frequent attacks on Grand Cross, the site of the prior High Hostel, which had suffered harm and destruction so frequently that the Hostel had never seen completion after over a century of construction. Grand Cross sat between the four great cities of Revellia: Berleigh, Saolmoth, Aerwoth, and Revelback, and consequently was a frequent site of battle during war. The city was re-founded as Swining, and the High Hostel of Revelback began construction in 940 RA.   These changes were initiated under Collium the Constant, by order of his Mox Master Flaithe "the False" Faolan. Flaithe, famously, was the only daughter of Conric Faolan, and had disguised herself as a man to fight in the Stock Wars. Her secret was discovered within the first year of her service under Collium, and she was thrown in the dungeons. She would later be rescued by Prince Dorreon, who took her to the Fiirwood, where they were secretly wed. Later, Dorreon would become king, with Flaithe as his queen.   The hostel itself is a massive three-story structure, with an enormous basement featuring storage for food and wine, shelter for the poor, a small armory from the Fourth Brothers Rebellion, and (it is whispered) a reliquary for valued artifacts. The ground floor is given over entirely to ceremony, featuring a great hall and a few minor cells. The second floor holds classrooms and apartments for apprentices, while the hostesses live on the third floor. A bell tower surmounts the building's peak.
