Ghazel
With the smell of silver willow in the air, and the sound of saws on the breeze, the town of Ghazel looms up from a clearing in the forest, a touch of civilisation amidst the woods.
Ghazel is a small wood cutting village in the Hamia region. The heart of the village is it's lumber yard and the camp that houses the lumberjacks who fell trees along the outskirts of their village.
The lumberyard has 3 massive saw blades on platforms in a main roofed cental complex, with large beams and lubber storage overhead. Lumberjacks operate pully systems to hoist large pieces of timber into place for proper milling. When the mill was first established silver willow was plentiful in the forests around Ghazel. Now, due to over harvesting, the valuable trees are much more scarce. Even without the silver willow, the forests around Ghazel have many tall trees with straight trunks which are idea for the ship building of Hamai. To aid the timber industry of the village a sizable herd of Jumberlax are well cared for.
Tensions between the elves from Melliune and the humans from Ghazel were sparked some 60 years ago when the humans refused to curtail their felling of the silver willow trees, which the elves revere.
With an effort to have no waste in the timber cutting process, all offcuts from the mill are sent to the furnaces to be turned into high quality charcoal which are sold in Hamia for its citizen's cooking fires.
A burly half elf named Horst serves as both a foreman for the lumber yard as well as a mayoral figure for the town. His ancestry helps him act as an intermediary between the town and the elves of Melliune when matters of land come into dispute.
Marley, the owner of the town's mill is reknown for his grumpiness and short fuse.
Marley has hired the help of a mercenary named Bobo who is a swordmage.
