Battle of Kalendril
The battle of Kalendril, also known as The Conflict of Tusk and Web, was a conflict that took place many centuries ago in the North Forest to the west of Aratai and north of Hamia.
Ton'Sharr, a wizard of staggering power, and a disciple of Tila - God of Trickery, Shadow and Night, discovered a nexus place of raw magic within the forest. An ancient shrine, older than memory, sits, untouched by time, in a cave system within the forest. Ton'Sharr drew on the power of that shrine to create, for the glory of Tila, an abomination: a hybrid between the gigantic spiders that lived in the forest and the orcs that lived in its hills.
When Hotan, the over-lord of the orcs in the North Forest learned of Ton'Sharr's evil intentions, he formed an unusual alliance with Veyialren, the queen of the Elves of Pherandiel. Together, they sought the help of Koshasha - God of Earth in the battle.
By the time the allied forces of orcs and elves reached Kalendril Ton'Sharr had already successfully created legions of orc-spider hybrids. The battle was an earth shattering exchance of violence and raw magic as both side unleashed immense magical powers against each other. The allied forces created a series of ward stones which they placed around Kalendril, severing the divine connection between Ton'Sharr and Tila's magic. This turned the battle in the allied forces favor. In the end, Ton'Sharr was slain, but not before Veyialren fell to the bite of one of Ton'Sharr's Orken Spiders.
Veyilaren's fallen body was laid to rest in the crypts of what is now known as the Pherandiel Ruins.
But now the ward stones are crumbling... and something stirs. A curse, known to the local elves as the Blightwood Curse is spreading through the forest.
