New Federal Committee Representative

The New Federal Committee was inaugurated in 718 by Magelord Novia Celsa with the intent of providing better representation in the Federal government for groups that have historically been disenfranchised and underrepresented. As such, the individuals on the committee each represent the interests of a specific population, such as residents of Cethandir, Otherborn, or immigrants, so that groups both well-established and newly represented can engage in deliberation about the fate of the nation. Currently, there are twelve seats on the New Federal Committee. For the representatives, their place on the Committee is an opportunity to strive for the best interests of people like themselves.

Appointment

The Committee is intended to be a democratically-elected body, but for the sake of getting the Federal government functional for the first time in more than three years, this first group of representatives were chosen prior to any elections. The current members of the Committee were selected by Madam Celsa based on conversations with community leaders throughout the Federation. The first Committee elections are to be held in 720, recurring every five years thereafter. A representative will be elected for each seat currently on the Committee, but there are steps in place to petition for additional seats for representatives of other populations or interest groups: citizens can create and sign petitions to create a seat to represent a specific group, and petitions with 500,000 signatures will be raised to the committee. A majority of seven out of twelve is required to confirm the addition of a new seat on the Committee.

Responsibilities

Committee members meet daily to deliberate on issues of national policy, informed by reports on the state of the various Federal government departments prepared for them by the Council. A majority of seven out of twelve is required to decide on an issue. The representatives are expected to keep the best interests of the population they represent in mind as they deliberate.

Titles & Styles

In formal settings, a representative is styled "[Mr.|Ms.|Mx.] [Full Name], Representative of [Group Represented]." They may be addressed firstly as "Representative [Surname]," and thereafter as "Sir," "Madam," or "Lire," though the honorific is not expected in further uses in writing.

Current Representatives

The following individuals currently constitute the Committee.   Novia Celsa: Representing the Federal government.
Madam Celsa has a temporary seat on the Committee while the Federal government undergoes its transition.   Valeria Marcella: Representing the Vayan Federal Military.
The Federation’s most decorated imperator, Marcella was among the first of the top brass of the Federal Military to affirm the New Federation after the Vayan administration's human rights abuses were exposed.   Daigonis "Dai" Ūdris: Representing survivors of human experimentation.
The grandson of former Consul of Weapons Eridanis Ūdris, Ūdris was secretly incarcerated in a Federal laboratory and subjected to brutal experimentation from age 5 to 27, when he escaped after the Severing destroyed the facility in which he was being held.   Valiant Axius: Representing survivors of Project Vanguard.
An elven tiefling, Axius was a member of the first squadron liberated from Project Vanguard, and he was one of the first Vanguard legionnaires created in the program almost 100 years ago. A lifetime activist known for their advocacy against the Vayan Class System, Iliev was among the coalition that sprung up to govern Cethandir after the Cethandiran government’s attempt to censor information about the Vayan government’s activities led to anti-Vayan riots and the ousting of the Tetrarchs in late 717.   Cressida Aquila: Representing Auria.
The matriarch of a powerful Aurian political family, Aquila was among the first in Vayan high society to publicly denounce the covert actions of the Vayan government. Miloē worked as an apothecary and herbalist in Vay Proper until the neighborhood in which he lived and worked was destroyed in the Severing. An orc archdruid and a well-respected priest of the Old Faith, Tatan has spent her long life building bridges between the rural populations of Axatla dark elves, Jasar'at orcs, and Pelissier humans.   Nikita Tereshko: Representing the underclasses.
Lifelong labor activist Tereshko was instrumental in organizing the coalition that now governs urban Cethandir. Tereshko spent years marked as a carcerar as punishment for a crime of which he was eventually proven innocent and acquitted.   Ocelotl Ollin: Representing New Xalotl.
A trusted member of the royal court of Valissia ce'Xalotl, Ollin is a diplomat who was instrumental in brokering the deal between Toluca and Caelus that led to the formation of the New Xalotl province.   Veer Haridra: Representing immigrant populations.
Journalist Haridra immigrated to the Federation from Kassaan in 704 while he was facing pressure from the government of Kassaan due to his status as a political dissident who has built a career criticizing the Kassaani oligarchy.   Elita Ulixes-Khovostov: Representing Otherborn.
The daughter of an aerorail magnate and a famous arcane architect, genasi Ulixes-Khovostov was raised among the highest echelons of Vayan society. As a young adult, she has grown into a powerful voice for the rights of Otherborn.
