Novia Celsa (NO-vee-ah SELL-za)

Being identified as a powerful sorceress as a teenager was only the start of Novia Celsa's rise to power in the Federation of Vay. Despite her youth, the sheer power she wielded brought her from humble origins into the watchful gaze of some of the most influential people in the nation. A phenom who graduated from the Vitalis School of Arcana with a Master's degree in the arcane arts at only twenty-three years old, Novia's name began to appear on people's lips in answer to questions of the identity of the next Magelord of Vay in 713, when she was 25.
When the Severing struck a year later, one of the first names on the list of potential candidates was that of Novia Celsa. The period of three and a half years that followed were marked by a war of intrigue between the five original candidates, and as a result, no Magelord reigned in that time. But on the 25th of Nightwinter, 717, the Grand Court announced it would move forward with confirming Novia Celsa as the next Magelord of Vay.
Though it is too early to judge the popular reaction to the new Magelord, it is widely recognized that this is a surprising move of the Grand Court. Not only is Novia young—her predecessor, Astoria Nethrani, was considered to be a surprisingly young Magelord when she ascended to the throne at the age of 36—she is considered something of a wild card, a true newcomer to the political scene whose intents and desires are entirely unknown. Only time will tell what Novia Celsa's reign as Magelord will entail.
