Isfeljor

Isfeljor is always on the cooler side. The land sits in a state of permanent winter. While the western side of the continent—particularly around Riner Is—is covered in a permanent layer of ice and snow, the eastern side often remains thawed. Isfeljor is littered with rivers, starting in the tall peaks of its mountains and cutting through the land to the ocean. Though the land is bitterly cold and unforgiving, it is the source of hardwood, ice blocks, fish, and intricate craftsmanship for the world.

Geography

Isfeljor's mountains are breathtaking. Sharp, jagged, and towering, they stand unconquered by civilization. Isfeljor's many rivers originate from these mountains as some snow and ice manage to melt on the frozen slopes. The rivers cut through large forests, icy wastelands, and frosty plains. These rivers mostly lead into the ocean, but some end in large lakes.   Permanent snow and frost throughout the land leave the forests of Isfeljor feeling dark and foreboding. Roads and paths through the forests are stone-paved and well-lit to provide a feeling of security while traveling through them.

Fauna & Flora

Domesticated livestock don't fare well in Isfeljor. Instead, hunters track down game such as moose, giant elk, bears, and—for a challenge—creatures such as wyverns. Hardy crops are grown on a small, family-sized scale.   The forests are all coniferous with little underbrush growing. Larger animals, beasts, and creatures live and lurk in the dark forests.   The plains of Isfeljor are mostly barren, but also contain several types of shrubs and grasses. Smaller game and critters call the plains their home.

Natural Resources

Despite its harsh conditions, Isfeljor is rich in resources. Nowhere else can top the taste of fish from Isfeljor, particularly fish from Varby. The dense forests provide plenty of hard, sturdy wood for building and crafting. Glaciers and ice fields are the only sources of ice blocks in the world. Isfeljor's forests also harbor rare game that attracts many an aspiring hunter to test their skill against. Other game native to Isfeljor is considered a delicacy elsewhere in the world that the rich will buy to serve for their guests.
