Fellbe Settlement in Amalgama | World Anvil

Fellbe

Written by holyflpncows

Fellbe is a very small settlement that sits in the shadow of Riner Is. Being in such close proximity to the mountain leaves Fellbe covered in a permanent layer of frost. No crops can grow in such frigid conditions. Residents rely on trading artifacts found near Riner Is in exchange for other goods.   Those wishing to take a pilgrimage to Riner Is stop and prepare themselves in here before venturing further into the frozen wilds. Merchants who cannot afford a ship for their goods in Litenhavon use the road from Fellbe to cross Isvey Pass.

Demographics

Most residents of Fellbe are tabaxi, while humans make up the rest of the population. Both races work closely together in Fellbe to recover artifacts and learn their secrets.

Government

Generally, each profession and operation is maintained by guilds. However, like other towns in the world, Fellbe has a town representative to speak for them in all guild and Paritet matters. Representatives are elected for this position by the town residents. Fellbe's representative is Riddle Søkere.

Industry & Trade

Fellbe relies on merchants and traders to stay afloat. Residents trade discovered artifacts in exchange for food and finer goods. Artifact hunters have workshops in their homes to examine and learn about their hauls before selling or trading them. Many residents also still hunt for food and furs, though these items are not typically traded or sold.

Infrastructure

Fellbe has a small inn that also serves as the village's only tavern. Travelers looking to stock up will find all they need at the inn. Traders and artifact hunters work out of their homes, and will often cut deals when approached directly.

Guilds and Factions

There are no guilds directly present in Fellbe. Occasionally, guild auditors visit to ensure business is in order.

History

Locals date some of their houses back to 200 years ago. They say their ancestors lived here before Paritet was established, and they whisper of how the area wasn't always encased in ice.

Architecture

Buildings in Fellbe are more rounded, both walls and domed roofs. Houses typically have two rooms; one for the family and a workshop. The family room contains a firepit in the center where gathering and cooking happens. Bedrolls are arranged a bit away from the firepit. Workshops are often small as the artifacts found are never large. These rooms contain at least a table, and often a few shelves.

Geography

Fellbe sits at the base of Riner Is, well above sea level. The path to Riner Is begins at the north west side of town. The road that splits north to Isvey Pass and south to Litenhavon cuts east to west through the center of Fellbe, sloping upward and ending at the dirt path to Riner Is. Frosted trees are scattered around town and become sparse and more frozen the close to Riner Is you travel. The stone road is well kept in town, but is very icy outside of town.

Natural Resources

Fellbe has little in the way of natural resources. A few hunters manage to snag kills on occasion, but plants struggle to survive and animals are not inclined to be domesticated and stay. Fellbe does manage to unearth many artifacts in the area, which are used for trading.
