Grimward
Demographics
The Grimward is the poorest district on Naoned, populated largely by impoverished Fomorians, Poulpiquet and Kriores.
Government
The Grimward has never held a seat on the Council of 18, and is generally considered lawless, with the Merchant Houses maintaining private security at their facilities and leaving the rest of the area to fend for itself. The power vaccuum is filled with informal organizations, ranging from Korrigan Troupes to criminal syndicates, most notably The Malandrins, who control the quai and quarry.
The closest entity to a central, arbitrative authority are the Boléguéans of the Green Man Tavern. The Tavern is considered neutral ground, and its council is typically heeded, though it lacks direct authority to enforce its will.
Industry & Trade
While largely known for its warehouses, a significant portion of Naoned's blacksmiths and laundresses have established themselves here.
At the entry to Misery Quarry, stands a large flour mill and sugar cane refinery, a large clockwork complex that is the largest in Naoned.
Points of interest
The Green Man Tavern is located in Misery Quarry
The Great Staircase, leading up from the Quai into the Grimward, is a monumental stone staircase. At the top of the stairs is a granite statue of Segata, goddess of the Liger River.
Geography
Quai d'Aiguillon extends along the Northern (Black) bank of the Liger River to the West of Quai de la Fosse, a stretch of granite flanked by large warehouses.
The Grimward is built into the old granite quarry that marks the end of the Sillon de Letha hills, with twisting staircases extending from the Quai into the Hermit's Cliffs behind. Houses are packed tight along the slopes and cuts, making the entire hill appear built up. The rocks cut from Misery Quarry were used to build, the city walls, the quais and the Dugsbridge.
