Fairy

Fairies are small—roughly two to three feet tall—winged Fey creatures of radiant beauty and unpredictable temperament. Though not as diminutive as sprite-folk or pixies, fairies are delicate in build and feature, with luminous eyes, pointed ears, and expressive faces that seem to glow faintly under moonlight. Their wings, often likened to those of butterflies, dragonflies, or hummingbirds, shimmer with iridescent hues and leave trails of stardust-like motes in their wake. These wings are not just for show—fairies are graceful fliers, capable of acrobatic maneuvers that defy wind and gravity alike.

Fairies are born of wild magic and emotion, springing into being from the blooming of moon-kissed flowers, the laughter of children, or even the tears of a grieving forest. Each Fairy is unique, shaped by the moment of their creation—some are giggling tricksters, others solemn poets, some guardians of grove and glade, and others silent observers of time’s passage. Though fey in origin, their ties to nature are strong, and they often dwell in secluded woodland communities, hidden meadows, and hollowed trees blooming with bioluminescence.

Their society is loosely organized into clans or flutters, each bonded more by shared emotion and ideals than bloodline. Fairies communicate through a mix of melodic speech, gestures, and bursts of light and sound—a language that shifts with feeling. Art, dance, and music are central to their culture, and fairy gatherings are dazzling affairs filled with glowing lanterns, impromptu performances, and swirling color.

Despite their whimsical charm, fairies are not to be underestimated. Many possess innate fey magic tied to illusion, nature, and misdirection. Their playful nature masks sharp wit and cunning; while they rarely show outright hostility, they are masters of clever retaliation when offended. Fairies are governed by curiosity, instinct, and a deep respect for unspoken rules—bargains, promises, and favors hold sacred weight in their dealings.

Some fairies align themselves with The Verdant Court, reveling in the joy of unspoiled wilderness and blossoming life, while others find kinship with The Twilight Court, drawn to mysteries, dusk-lit groves, and the beauty of fading things. Regardless of allegiance, all fairies share an innate sense of balance, mischief, and reverence for the ever-turning cycle of life.

Fairy Traits

Size: Small (2-3ft)

Speed: 30ft

As a Fairy, you have these special traits.

Fairy Magic

You know the druidcraft cantrip.

Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell with this trait. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the enlarge/reduce spell with this trait. Once you cast faerie fire or enlarge/reduce with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).

Flight

Because of your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can’t use this flying speed if you’re wearing medium or heavy armor.
