Úrúnans

The úrúnans are a group of tribes inhabiting Úrún in northeastern Adynía, and form one of the two main branches of orchish cultures along with the Ytean Orcs of Ytis to the east. The northern tribes are mostly hunter-gatherers, while the southern ones grow rye, raise cattle and pigs and brew mead.

History

Úrúnans are descended from the earliest orcish societies, which appeared in the region around 80.000 years ago. For the longest time their contact with the rest of Adynía consisted mostly of trading and clashes with mostly human tribes from Gráhúlysía to the west, the Wild Mountains to the north and Ytis to the east, and úrúnans rarely took part in the migrations and invasions of the former two into central Adynía.
Góalanics coming from Góalanis from across the sea to the south began trading with the coastal tribes after the fall of Zameltonía, leading to the formation of towns such as Hroltúl, Tirr and Brálk and adding to already fairly advanced techniques in metallurgy and weaving. Warriors seeking glory and riches often traveled to the góalanic kingdoms, fighting as mercenaries in wars between those kingdoms and, later on, on the either side of their wars against the Paþarían Empire.
Around and after the fall of Paþaría, some of the úrúnan tribes began invading various regions of Adynía, most notably Góalanis but some settled down as far as the Meldon Plain in central Adynía and Úrra, one of the Azókan Islands in Central Sea. With the conquest of Góalanis and the formation of the Góalanic Federation, ruled by an orcish aristocracy, the southern tribes have slowly begun imitating their southern cousins by adopting more urban lifestyle, while the northern tribes continue with their traditional way of life for the most part.
