Completing the Crown of Night

by Alanna Fanri

With the failure at going to stop Srot and the incident at Stonefort's Magic Academy, I decided it was time to retrieve the Crown of Night from Beckett, though I wasn't sure where he was keeping it. Setting off on my own private mission of sorts to do this. However, it turns out what was being tracked was the last gem. With the Whitestriders Plane being on a world called Deminol which was destroyed by the Devourer.

Upon entering this area, I was completely cut off from any contact with the Crown of Night. Alone, scared, and angry I made my way through the hallways and rooms trying to find, what I thought I was still looking for. I saw bodies and blood everywhere and came across an amulet and ring that I took with me, both had the initials L.B. on them.

As I continued on my way, I became dizzy at points. Seeing a white translucent figure that was followed by a shadow figure, they seemed to be in conversation with each other. Getting closer, I was able to make out some of their conversation. At the time I wish I had realized it was a vision of the past I was seeing of me and the Crown talking to each other.

Upon entering the room that they went into I became extremely dizzy and fell to the floor. Waking up I was in the same place but a different time. It was my room and it was before the Devourer ever came, and we've been here for at least 5 years. She was a short blonde women and she spoke of her daughter, Lorena. We've apparently moved from other places/worlds before, she spoke of Gyinia that had a view of the violet waters. She also knew about me always pranking that asshole, Jin and apparently her daughter knew about it too. Before I could pry anymore the vision faded and I woke up on the cold floor of the destroyed room.

Continuing on my little quest I searched more. Most of the scenery was much of the same. However, one room was odd as it was completely inverted and it looked to be a child's room. Small clothing and paintbrushes everywhere with other small items. I assume this would have been Lorena's room.

Making my way down the hallway I began to feel dizzy again and sharp ringing in my ears as I saw two shadow figures step into the last room on the right side. Going into the room they went into which, to my surprise, the room was untouched. There was a circle in the center of the room surrounded by runic lettering that circled the perimeter. Stepping closer to the circle, trying to determine what the runes were, the circle started to spin slowly. Which led to another vision in this place, of the past...

The Vision

I notice that I'm holding a silver circlet, with several fine gems in it as you absentmindedly rub the smooth metal as I lean against the glass.

"This is it then isn't it?" The rather dreary tone ringing through the room as several others are seen around the gem.

"I still think it could have worked. We owed it to them." Another figure comments much to the rather mixed feelings of the ones around the figure.

"Captain, we can't go back. We need to act now before it knows."

The Captain with streaming tears, holds his hand along with the 6 others against the gem. Opening a locket and staring down at it. With a renewed vigor, the locket snaps close.

As the light expands from the gem, your own grip tightens on the metal within your own hand as an ear piercing shattering leaves my senses ringing and feeling my body go limp as Jenkins catches your my as you fall backwards.

"Oh my gods, Wraith! Come on, snap out of it, wake up!" Not sensing any large response, his arms wrap around my body, as he runs back out from the room where I had heard the two figures speaking, nearly slipping as he steps over the rubble and back towards the sealed door.

My mind drifting as I tighten my grip, my senses on fire as I pass out.

Within my room, as I regain consciousness, 8 hours later, a shrouded black figure of shadow sits next to me, holding my hand.

Feeling the object in my fingers, I open my grip to see a black opal, the shadow giving a warm smile.

It has been some time since we have truly been together. But, it can be just like it was at the beginning again.

Welcome back, Catalyst of the Crown of Night.

Heading to speak with Beckett, after a brief conversation with the Crown, I gave him the gem which he put into the Crown of Night, that he had in his office, to which it took the shape of a silver circlet. I also showed him the amulet and ring I had found. He told me that they were his wife's Lerrisa and that me and her had been great friends. I pressed information on his daughter but Jin, that asshole, rudely interrupted that conversation.
