Disastrous Deepgate Adventure

by Alanna Fanri

He charged at us, nothing I did seemed to work on slowing him down. This big, ugly, eyeless creature was going to kill us all. Rolde wasn't doing anything, just sitting there. I should have realized more that something was wrong, very very wrong. The creature didn't seem to want anything to really do with Rolde, so I was able to enact a plan that might work. Yelling to Lerissa to be near Rolde and I would get everyone to safety, I blinked into the Ethereal Plane to prepare the Whitestider item for teleporting back to the demi-plane. Once the item was ready I ended the spell going back to the material plane. I put my hand around Rolde's arm, it was hot, way too hot but we had to get out of there. My other hand grabbing Lerrisa. Right before the teleport the creature tore off her arm at the shoulder.

Crashing to the floor seconds later in the demi-plane. Screaming for help and giving Lerrisa a healing potion to try and help, Beckett, Hillan, and Kildan rush over. Kildan is told to take Lerrisa to Jin to try and help her. All the recent events racing threw my head and i look at Rolde, fearing the worst I ask the Crown, if it's seen anything like this. The response is one I dread, "he is in a state of abject assimilation to the will of the Focus of Untamed Flame, and Rolde is losing." Rolde starts emitting scorching flames from himself and the air becomes hot and painful, all of us backing up I let Beckett know about the Flame. Beckett tries casting barriers but none of them hold up. Only thinking of possibly one solution, one barrier I suggest the Amulet and Beckett races off to get it. Hillan's stubble on his face is gone and smoke starts drifting from his hair. He throws up a wall of ice but that melts away almost as fast as it was put up.

Beckett returning with the Amulet is able to cast a barrier. Rolde looks up with a dour expression, his face burned, holding a burning wooden fox as he balls a fist around it, saying, "I'm sorry, I could have saved everyone." Before he fades behind the fire storm, as the barrier finishes. Beckett and Hillan leaving... I wanted to help... I tried to help I brought him back here to burn up and die though. I brought back an item of death...

Walking down the hall with the little shadow wisp on my shoulder, realizing I have to deal with "that one" now, approaching Jin's room to check and see how Lerrisa is doing. Of course Jin spouts off stupid comments that he knows nothing about, the arrogant ass. At least Beckett assured me that Lerrisa would be okay and returned safely. Now I just sit here in my room and write. I don't know what could have been done differently. I never thought he'd try and take the Flame himself and now he paid the price for it. Items of death they could all be, at least I lucked out with the better one.
