We try to remember what we were doing. We were trying to figure out who the next murder victim was going to be. We were going to Shavenhaven's to see if he knows reporter was - because that is who we think the next victim will be. But he doesn't.
Today is April something.
We arrive at the newspaper place. They are actually planning on moving him because they are afraid that another murder might put him at risk. I persuade her that we are willing and able to help protect her reporter. We also notice that she is reading a book called The Manchester Guardian, Gruesome Murders in Hull: Family of Five Slain. We determine, from the article, that it seems probable that the killer has crossed the channel and gone back to England. We agree to come back at 11 to meet with the reporter.
We do some other thinking and pondering of what to do. Go back to see Shavenhaven. Again. He shows us the newspaper. We bring him some pastries. He passed along some information that he pointed out that where the grave was. I noted that there was no body in the grave. That made Shavenhaved upset.
We hunker down for the night. Head over to the newspaper. Only one of us can talk to the reporter and it will be behind a curtain.
What does he know about the killings? bloody mess. Can't tell who they were. 3 bodies. One was small.
What can he tell us about the footprint? Was it human? Can't be sure if it was human. It looked somewhat human. Somewhat dog like. Sometimes unsure if they saw it.
Did he ever get to talk to Mrs. Dewey? no. had arranged for an interview - talked over the phone but not for an interview.
Has he heard anything about a painting from the mid 15 hundreds - Shavenhaven.
Do you have any leads about the murders? Mrs dewey had been at the wolfsdonken crime scene and had helped clean up the building.
We're kind of stumped and wander around. We find the harbor master. We ask about what they carried on the Sweet Caroline - bolts. And who was on the ship. Owner, Capt. Fritzheimens and some crew members. No passengers. No Marskramer. The Sweet Caroline left just yesterday.
We go to the police station. Explain that we are investigating the murders of the Tanner family. We ask about footprints. They note that footprints - indicate that they think the footprint was of Peter Davies. Seems rather sus. We ask for a photo. Ask other questions about Davies. We go to the crime scene - the Tanners. Lots of blood. No bodies. In the blood, there is a foot, not a shoe print, could be the same as what the reporter described. We ask if the door was ajar. No signs of forced entry. No bookcase.
Dudley was an accountant.
