New Adventures

We have a new assignment. Miskatonic University is having some problems. A professor when on an archeological dig and now they haven't heard from him for two months. The dept head - Ernest Mctavish. We arrive at his office. Sept 24th - date. The students and faculty members are all running around. It is apparently raining. People are using newspapers and bags as umbrellas. Secretary brings us in.
 
The office is airy. Has plain white walls. His degree is on the wall. Wooden shelves. Lots of archeological things. Masks. Pottery and things. He gives some background. Missing professor is Henry Rhodes and his wife Abigail. He and his wife Abigail are friends with Mctavish. He is telling everyone that henry is taking convalescence. Miskatonic Valley - that is where they went. Somewhere in Mass. They are in the Blackwater creek area. Background - Professor Rhodes took an expedition to the sm settlement of Blackwater Creek. Him, his wife, and grad students. Grad students have returned. He sent the students back. He sent a letter explaining his absence. They have tried to track him down. We have the letter. It's weird that Henry wrote the letter because his wife normally writes them.
 
He had brought three grad students who returned safely. Agnes Soames and Clarence Welliver. Walt Rerig abandoned his studies. He was infatuated with Cade's Rest - a settlement. Found in 1660 by Ezekiel Cade. He was fleeing puritans. They lived peacefully for two months before they encountered the Sicaiook Tribe. They co-existed for a while. They would trade with the Quakers until one time when Daniel's son, had gone hunting and was injured. They took him to the sacred cave to be healed. He wasn't quite the same after. Cade tried to find out what had happened but got no info. He fled and later came back with gunpowder to collapse the cave. Then he returned to Boston. Had some mental issues. Went back to Miscatonic Valley. Rhodes has an interest in finding the settlement and cave.
 
Step One - Library
We find a history written by Ezekiel Cade. Or a transcript.
He claims that he had seen the devil. Demons.
 
Step Two - Grad Students
Agnes - She is a small, intense-looking woman.
They had a run in with some of the local farmers. They were upset with the researchers. They might have been brothers. Can't remember their names. Before we were leaving, they had to take shelter with Jarvies, because of the weather. They were friendlier. They were looking for the cave. They were mostly trying to speak with locals about finding the cave. She describes some people.
 
Clarence - He's doing.
He has pictures of the Blackwater Settlement. Just a bunch of buildings around an opening - like a village green. He talks about taking Hook Road, pass through nine buildings to the center of town.
The guy who runs the town is named Sproutson. He is the Sherriff also. I guess. He gives some details about the town. Isn't really sure about the last student.
 
Walt - He lives on the outskirts of Arkham. His fingers twitch. We ask him about his mom and his time with the professor. He seems a little -- not talkative. He's nervous and distracted. I try to calm him down. The farmer's names that are meanies is Carmody. Takes his mother some tea. There is nothing that looks like it belongs to a woman around. He thinks he is telling the truth.
I sneak upstairs. See a tray of tea in front of a door that is slightly open. I see a bed. It's made. No one is in it. I open the next door. Bedroom. Report to others. Come back up with Brad. Brad goes in. Sucker.
