Calusgacht

Calusgacht is a region found on Roscrea's westernmost border with the Diservive Guilf. The region is a peninsula that is completely controlled by Kingdom Watchersplace, through their massive capital on the shore, known as Everlook. The region is known for its extreme fishing industry, as well as the unique flora found nowhere else in Roscrea, such as palm trees, and a variety of sea-based wildlife that is said to be made of seaweed, barnacles, and coral from Tungleten.

Geography

Calusgaucht juts out from the mainland Roscrea to help form the Diservive Gulf with its peninsula. The peninsula itself is tropical in climate, with many palm and coconut trees found in the region. Waterfalls are abundant and make warm, flowing rivers throughout the region. Cliffs are also abundant, creating steppes toward the south, including the Minatour Steppe, where Minatours have migrated from Bescora.   Toward the center of the region are the Through Sea Mountains that have a passage through their middle which allows easy access through the rest of the peninsula. They are rich in ore and very spikey toward their peaks, making good secret hideout locations.   To the south of the Through Sea Mountains lies lowlands that gradually sink into the ocean. Here, swamps and bogs can be found in the lowland Floundering Strip. To the southwest of that, lies the Sirencoast, which is infested with Sirens. Warlock's Glide lies to the west, which is a collection of hills and small mountains that make for a great location for Warlocks to meet in their crevices and glades.   The south of the peninsula opens up to the plains of the Fields of the Dead, where Diebkin roam and are attracted to the dark magic of the warlocks. Bullwood is also in the region south of the fields, which is rich for lumber and hunting. A small valley lies to the north, and on its curve to the west, is a historical meeting place of templars and a small sancturary there that meant to end the warlocks in the region. Beyond a river that separates the valley's west from the rest of the land, lies the Thage Hills that are infested with goblin clans that are more magically intuned than most of their kin.   Along the coasts of Calusgaucht are many coves and caverns for pirates and other miscriants to hide in from the law, making a coast both prosperous and golden, but also riddled with swashbucklers. The western tip of the peninsula is perhaps the most dangerous and untamed, with great hills and dense forests, especially toward the south where the Untamed Lands lie. Nomads often settle in the region, away from the eye of the Empire. Fort Bargon that sits upon the tallest hill in the region, watches over the land and is the only bastion of the Empire within the extreme west of Calusgaucht.   The city of Everlook is found in the north of the region, with a river flowing from the ocean and into the land, which the city lies on. Throughout the river is Country Everlook. To the south of the city are plains and cliffs until they are interupted by the Through Sea Mountains.

History

Calusgaucht was first settled in the First Era by primative species such as the Cyclops and Ogres, who reportedly once fought for the peninsula. The Cyclops once had a settlement known as Hild in the west, but under mysterious reasons, the Cyclops left the area and left the Ogres to themselves, instead moving further south to Halalastier and Malatata. Hild would become overgrown and nothing but ruins, holding secrets of their ancient culture.   By 4200 2E, the Vardux Empire, which encompassed much of present day Southern Roscrea, controlled Calusgaucht. They established a settlement known as Marnarch and used the land as farmland to feed their Empire, as much of their land was covered by the Ordxder Forest. They settled along Country Everlook, making the region dotted with their ruins, as it was good soil to farm. They would also capture the local Ogres and use them for horrific experiments, making the Ogres of the region the deadliest in all the lands.   Around the time of 4160 2E, four years after Humans had landed in Roscrea, a small tribe of them, known as the Myacle tribe, split off and settled in Calusgaucht. The Vardux allowed them to do so, finding them amusing and eventually near-enslaving them, using them as servants to farm the land and provide labor for menial tasks so the Vardux could focus on their experiments in Marnarch. This allowed the Myacles to grow strong and hardy and increase their population in the region. They learned much under the Vardux and would learn their ways, though they would have their own separate religion, one that worshiped both Sicesera and Vanalel and their love of the night, creating shrines dedicated to them throughout the region.   In 4300 2E, the Roncrian-Vardux War would begin, and the Roncrians would begin to push back the Vardux and claim their land, using their newfound magical abilities. The Myacles would take this opportunity to rise up against the Vardux and claim Calusgaucht for themselves. Unable to fight a war on two fronts, the Vardux would eventually pull out of Calusgaucht and leave it to the Myacles, but not before Marnarch was razed to the ground in 4314 2E.   In 4315 2E, the Myacles would claim Calusgacht as theirs, and form their new rule. They would build upon the ruins of Marnarch and keep the name for their new capital and rule over the land, creating the Triad of Nightwhich were stone tablets that detailed their beliefs and proclaimed them throughout the land, and any that objected, were slaughtered and sacrificed to Vanalel and Sicesera. With the combination of their knowledge attained by the Vardux, their black magic, and their gods of the knight and void, the Myacles ruled unopposed in Calusgacht.   The Myacles would become known as the "Children of the Night" and was despised by the new Roscrean Empire, which outlawed the practice of dark magic. The All-Father would declare a Holy War against the Myacles after flooding occured in the Diservive around 5450 3E, known as the Great Diservivian Flood. This was excuse enough for the the Holy War, and Roscrea went to war with the Myacles in what was to be known as the War of the Night. Roscrea would emerge victorious and burn Marnarch once more to ruins, and the remaining Myacles would retreat into what is now Warlock's Glide, the few that remained becoming warlocks that terroized the surrounding land.   In 5512 2E, Kingdom Watchersplace would be founded with the building of their capital, Everlook. They would become the thirteenth kingdom to join the Empire. Some viewed its creation as an insult to the greiving over the dissaperence of Kingdom Faful.   In 5500 2E, the Triad of the Night were found and the teachings of the Myacles rediscovered, and from their teachings grew the Three Foundations, an assassin group to pass on the teachings of the Myacles and do the will of Vanalel and Sicesera. They took the stone tablets and created a sanctum on the island of Andavor.   In 5570 2E, the Three Foundations assassinate King Heyweil, increasing their reputation and making them the number one enemy for Kingdom Watchersplace.    In 5575 2E, Pharragorn was built on the island of Andavor, secretly to try and lure out the Three Foundations to expose their sanctum.   In 7067 3E, the island of Hirwier was given to the Gnomes as a show of good faith and to establish an embassy for them there, much to the displeasure of the citizens of the village of Gester, which was on the island.   In 7205 3E, an immortal manifest of Vanalel is created through the leader of the Three Foundations, Immoril, and made to lead the Three Foundations permenately.    In 7500 3E, the goblins of the Thage Hills unite and attempt to raid the town of Wayward, but are ultimately unsuccessful, as the Manifest of Vanalel saves the town by defeating them.    In 7543 3E, the University of Embers is founded by the previous Court Wizard, Illesa Fredrick.   In 7650 3E, the Warlocks of Warlock's Glide banned together and formed the Court of Ew to try and reclaim Calusgacht for the Myacles by reclaiming Marnarch, but they were stopped by a band of templars, part of the Knights of Roscrea, and battling them. The battle ended in a draw, with both sides being utterly destroyed, but the Court of Ew being stopped.    In 7724 2E, the famous pirate-lord Ambarsa Steelshoe reportedly buried her treasure underneath the Everlook lighthouse and then landed her ship still full of goods on the island of Efrekill   In 7749 2E, nomads created the permenent settlement of Numal in the western wilderness.
