Arbiter's Rest is a large and imposing chapel that sits upon a great hill just west of the Gold-Blood Estates. It serves as a place of rest for both active and retired arbiters that currently or once led chapters of Humanism throughout Roscrea and beyond. Here, the Old Arbiters write down their wisdom and pass down their knowledge to current arbiters. There are stations of luxury, such as saunas and sporting rooms, but also places for meditation and fasting. Once a year, the Allfather will travel to Arbiter's Rest and give his sermon and yearly report on the well-being of the Empire.
The chapel was originally created in order to keep the sanity of older arbiters, as they are known to go mad with the knowledge they have obtained and be vunerable to becoming heretics.
Architecture
The Chapel leads from a grand staircase that crawls up the large hill and has great arbiters of old recognized on either side of the staircase in the form of statues. The long staircase is meant to test the patience of the arbiters. Once past the staircase, the hill opens to a beautiful courtyard that holds a great statue of Helifex holding his famous scepter. Surrounding the statue is a joyous fountain. The chapel itself has three wings; the residential wing, the main worship wing, and the meditation wing, where powerful wards of silence fall over it to keep the peace.
History
As a young man, Asmuld the Pure, and later Emperor of the Roscrean Empire, would spend his time as a servant boy in Arbiter's Rest before making his way up to Arbiter and then Emperor.
In 7612 3E, Gunnan the Heretic would try to secretly corrupt the written teachings of the Old Arbiters and create his own cult off of Humanism to make himself seem as if he were an incarnate of Helifex. He would sew corruption in the minds of the arbiters and some chapters would fall to his corruption and turn to him, though he kept his true identity a secret from the other arbiters. He was stopped when he tried to assassinate the Allfather as he gave his yearly speech at the chapel, but the Allfather slayed him instead, though his influence over the corrupted chapters would only increase as they now viewed him as a martyr, and the Allfather of having murdered an incarnate of Helifex.
