The Roscrean Empire
The Roscrean Empire (also known as the Empire of Roscrea) is a well established human kingdom in western Archtun. The Empire came to be after the humans had been banished from the Old Lands and made their way to Archtun after unsuccessfully trying to settle in Stonefalls. The humans soon split into tribes, with two prominent ones, Roncria and Seria, being established. The two waged war over differences in belief of magic and worship, and Roncria proved to be the victor. The tribe of Roncria would grow and expand through conquest, taking over notably the independent south eastern kingdoms in what is known as the Southern Sieges, and the eastern kingdom of Drecaster, as well as taming the Orxder Forest. The tribe would grow big enough to become its own empire, encompassing thirteen different kingdoms which all unite under the same banner, with Castle Roncore at the heart of the empire, the empire's capital city. The first dynasty known as the Dranil dynasty would lead Roscrea, followed by the Opum, Verlal, Reimund, Cyces, and Strivund dynasties following after, leading into present day.
The Roscrean Empire has stood as a beacon for stability and civilization in Wold for thousands of years, but the empire has its own fair share of corruption, most notably in the higher ranks of knights in the knightly houses. A prime example of this was during the Eighty Year Interregnum, between the dynasties of Opum and Verlal, when the last heir to the Opum dynasty was assassinated without bearing a child to take his place. This was due to a family known as the Dlarn, a family of nobles that constantly try to insist they are the true heirs to the empire.
