The Wurm Concordant
The Wurm Concordant is formerly religious group that now acts as the shepherds of the Chiton for The Valcoran Empire.
Public Agenda
The Wurm Concordant is dedicated to the raising of and training of the Chiton, ensuring their numbers stay within acceptable levels, tending to and if need be removing the sick from the population before a sickness can threaten them, and the training of Chiton to be used as war mounts, and pack animals.
Assets
The Concordant does not have a stash of wealth, but is instead provided everything they require to do their duties with the understanding that the Empire will repay any costs that result.
They have several buildings called 'Concord Hives' throughout the major cities of the Empire where in they house the egg clutches and young to be specially trained.
History
The Wurm Concordant was originally a religious sect devoted to the worship of the Minor Diety Nessumonthu made up exclusively of Tosculi. They worked to spread the word and ideas of The Wurm through the Empire in its early years and were charged with taking the gift of the first of the Chiton eggs to the Empress Joba Elmahdy, bestowing them to her a gift directly from the God in hopes she would work to allow him to be added to The Torrezon Pantheon. She in turn charged the Concordant with the care of the Chiton and ordered them to be bred and given to the people of her Empire. Several Human members were brought into the fold of the concordant to assist the Tosculi in their task of spreading the gifts of Nessumonthu to the people of the Empire.
After the death of Nessumonthu, the Concord suffered more heavily then most due to the silence that came with their Gods death. The Tosculi withdrew into their underground kingdom, driven mad by the loss of their creator, and those Humans that survived threw themselves more heavily into their work with the Chiton, soon becoming more attuned to the beasts than others around them, even claiming to be able to speak to them telepathically. Through this bond they developed, they managed to survive and bound themselves tightly to the Empire, using their abilities with the Chiton to help spread further across the continent, allowing the settling of the Upper Wastes and the further settling of the Lower Basin.
Today, they serve as one of the few parts of the Valcoran Empire not directly controlled by The Order of the Dead. They are made up primarily of Humans, though a decent number of exiled Tosculi seek them out, as well as some Thri-kreen.
