He opened his eyes and the room shifted. He watched a wall melt in reverse from the inky blackness while beside him, Xiote rose from the bedside solidifying from glittering golden dust that fluttered around the space. He reached out to touch her and thought he saw her golden bones break. He whimpered and pulled his hand away.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

As a whole, Jax is utilized in a professional setting as an anesthetic; to numb pain either as a medical necessity or to partly paralyze victims during the time of their sacrifice.
For recreation, it is used to drown in kaleidoscopic visions, alien sounds and euphoric feelings while in a comatic stupor. It is sought after by seers and sayers, who say the drug instigates their premonitions.

It is worth noting that even those not of the profession say much the same thing.

Manufacturing process

Since two of the three variants are of stranger places with unknown elements and practices, we can all but guess at the procedure for their production. However, making the garden version is known to us:-

• The bees are made to make and feed on their normal honey made from the abundant pond weed plant for a six month period.

• After which a hive is made delirious from several infusions of smoke from either burning eo weed seeds or maw beans that are typically contained within large and tightly wrapped palm leaves for controlling the dosage.

• Those still moving, are separated and either placed aside to recover or have their stingers and venom sack removed with the needle of the century cactus.

• Even the drips of bee venom are meticulously scraped off the needle and collected in a bowl.

• The yellow-green substance can be administered either through the cactus needle or by the bee stinger itself.

Significance

There are two Jax producing areas in the known world; and one from some place unknown, beyond the Floodlands. All three have developed unique tastes in Jax. Due to the distances involved and the shear uncertainty of their respective locations on any map; we cannot be sure on just how two of the variants are made. Except that bee venom is the primary active ingredient.

• When it comes from far away from the valley, it is called Honey Jax. This is objectively, the safest, and the highest quality drug in the market. But it is also the hardest variant to get hold of, and so, the most expensive.

• When it is imported from across the lake, it is labelled Killer Jax and is fabled to be produced by a people isolated between the Mist and the Marshes. Unlike the others, this one regularly places its users into a deathlike state and is slow to undo. It gets its name for the feature, temporary deaths it inflicts on its users. Overuse is known to leave several muscle group permanently relaxed. The first sign being that of those slightly recovered from their death trip finding a total paralysis on the tongue.

• When it is smuggled from the Garden Plot, it is named Leaf Jax. This is the most common and lowest quality version available. And often the most dangerous; it gives a high similar to Honey, but is more like to kill you than Killer. More often used for recreation by low tier citizens and so weak, overall, that greater quantities of it are needed to achieve the desired effects.
  It is thought by administrators that this particular drug is being intentionally delivered into the Alignment territory as a means to undermine Sang authority.
