Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Eranur has chosen to grow his hair into the long, unstyled and freeflowing look commonly worn by elven males and regarded as masculine in elven culture. It appears this was more a gender confirming statement than a fashion choice, as he very soon began wearing it tied back casually for all but the most formal occasions, the length being inconvenient for his chosen career as an artificer working with tools and machinery. As a result, Eranur is quite unusual for a half-elf - or presumed half-elf at least - in that he has chosen to grow his hair into the elven style, but then keep it tied out of the way rather than making an aesthetic feature of it. Most half-elf males choose either to cut their hair into a conventionally 'masculine' style by human standards, or to wear it loose and extremly well cared for in the manner of elven males. Eranur has instead chosen to forge his own way, somewhere between the two.
Apparel & Accessories
Eranur has always dressed simply except for on formal occasions, during which he chooses traditional elven clothing, although even then he dresses quite plainly when compared with the extremely elaborate forms such clothing often takes. Before his transition, this was partly due to a lack of confidence and a dislike of his own body, but after transitoning, even after many decades, he still prefers by choice simple and plain clothes. Usually these take the form of either smart, traditionally 'masculine' human clothing - trousers, waistcoats, buttoned shirts - or extremely heavy duty workclothes such as leather aprons and thick, reinforced gloves, for when he is working on his artificing and using dangerous magical machinery.

Personal history
Eranur was a foundling and therefore has no known second name. He was found as an infant on the road leading from Velladae to Das, just inside the Nerevarnese side of the border, in the arms of an unconscious human woman who died without ever regaining consciousness. Because of his background Eranur's race is a matter of guesswork, however his appearance, together with the fact that he still appears as if he were in his mid-20s when he is in fact at least 180 years old, suggests that he is partly or mostly elvish. The prevailing theory is that he is a half-elf and the woman found with him was his mother. Eranur was adopted by a mixed race elf/human couple in Das who later had a biological child, though they had none at the time Eranur was adopted, making him the oldest sibling.
During the adolescence of his younger brother, Eranur came out as transgender - identifying as male - to his adoptive parents who were fully accepting, as is the norm in Nerevarn. The only bump in the road was their request that - if possible - he keep a name similar to the one given when they found him as it was a very sentimental name in his mother's family. Thus the previously-named 'Aeranur' became known as Eranur.
After adolescence, Eranur left Das and the home of his adoptive family and moved to Illyria to study at the University of Arcana. This has been, to a certain extent, the vast majority of his life since then, since after completing his graduation he remained on as a postgraduate student, followed by a career as a research scholar and expert in the field of Ancient Enchantments.

Eranur is transgender, having been assigned female at birth - or rather at being found, since the circumstances of his birth are unknown - but identifying and presenting as a male.

Eranur is asexual, although he does not seem to regard this as a vital part of the way he identifies, merely as a fact about himself. He is not aromantic, and is open to relationships with any gender.
Education
Eranur left Das to study at the University of Arcana when he came of age, and has remained there ever since, immersed in his studies of ancient texts and ancient magical artifacts, which are his speciality. He has been offered professorship many times, but does not appear to covet advancement and has always politely refused. He is known to be an incredibly powerful mage of the artificer type, owing to his many years of experience and studious nature, but recently he appears to have chosen to focus on theory and study and is now rarely seen to actually cast spells.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Eranur has the peculiar kind of fame that results from an intensely specialised career. Within the university and his own field of study, he is renowned and a household name. Outside those areas most people, even in Illyria, would probably not even recognise him, owing at least in part to his extremely studious life which takes place almost entirely within the academic sphere. He is however generally accepted to be the foremost Nerevarnese authority on magical items and the forgotten ancient cultures that crafted them; and one of the few scholars capable of coming even close to replicating their power in his own creations.
Failures & Embarrassments
Eranur is mostly fond of discussions with his fellow academics, and usually delighted to find new knowledge in such discussions. He does however have a sensitive spot where it comes to the skills of his younger brother Eric Redtree. Despite Redtree's casual and laid back attitude, lacking any of Eranur's innate studiousness, the younger brother displayed almost from the cradle a natural aptitude for any kind of magic he chose to lay his hand to, including Eranur's chosen specialism of artificing and magical objects. Redtree's ability to pick things up with seeming ease and little study, even things which Eranur himself had spent months working on and mastering, has always been a source of irritation to the older brother, who sees it as a failure in himself and a need to work harder, rather than as a natural talent in his brother.
Mental Trauma
It is an open secret that Eranur has displayed the symptoms of Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder since an artifact finding expedition to The Great Forest a year ago, during which he became separated from the rest of his party for three days. He was eventually found unconscious with multiple severe injuries, although upon waking he told his rescuers that he had no memory of what was done to him. He has always been considered fairly introverted, but since the incident he has become practically reclusive, seeing very few people outside of his fellow researchers. At first he saw no one at all socially and barely left his office, although with time he has cautiously begun venturing out to places where he is well known and can feel safe. He is still prone to exit rooms hurriedly if things become too much for him, shuts himself away often, and avoids crowds and noise. Out of respect for both his traumatic experience and his extremely valuable skills, these behaviors are politely ignored and even (to whatever extent possible) accommodated.
Intellectual Characteristics
Eranur is reserved and somewhat introverted, but not by nature shy as is often assumed. He is - when not suffering from the effects of any traumatic ordeal - quietly content in most situations, especially those which involve his work or studies. He is extremely studious, and his enthusiasm sometimes manifests in visible excitement and animation when particularly enthralled or delighted with the results of his work; the only time he is known to exhibit such outward exhuberance. He is extremely attached to those he cares for, but expresses this modestly, through meaningful actions or gestures rather than verbally or with physical affection.
Taboos
Eranur does not appreciate much reference to his early life in Das, before he moved to the capital, unless it is an absolute necessity. He does not choose to take the surname of his adoptive family, and therefore will not accept being refered to as Eranur Redtree, and also will not answer to his birthname of Aeranur for obvious reasons. Thankfully this is very rarely a problem: being known as Eranur for well over a century, it would be very uncommon for anyone to more than intellectually recall that he ever had another name.

Contacts & Relations
Eranur has a number of friends, mostly within academic circles. Calathena Janarii, the dean of the University of Arcana is more an employer than an acquaintance, but Professor Orgnar Ock, Head of Divine Magic, is a particular friend, and the two have a degree of friendly banter which is not common in Eranur's friendships, being such a serious person by nature. Llywelyn Amberhide, a cleric of Dianecht who was an undergraduate at the university during the final years of Eranur's postgraduate studies is another friendly acquaintance, and the two have in fact grown closer over the past few months.
Family Ties
Eranur was taken in and adopted by a mixed race elf/human family in Das who at that time had no children, although during his adolescence a younger brother was born. Eranur's adoptive mother, an elf, still lives in Das although his human adoptive father is long since passed on. The younger brother, Eric Redtree, who uses their human father's surname, still lives in the town of his birth and works as a mage there.
Social Aptitude
Eranur is not by nature particularly social, but enjoys the company of those he trusts, especially if they are capable of dicussing his work in academia with him. On the rare occasions he chooses to 'socialise' in the conventional sense, it is usually with the express purpose of meeting a particular person he wishes to see, rather than to take in any kind of group atmosphere. For example, he has been known upon occasion to visit Darkvision, a drag and cabaret club in Illyria, but generally chooses to select a table and enjoy his drink and the acts quietly until a particular friend or acquaintance joins him, rather than actively participate on the dancefloor or interact with the performers.
Speech
Eranur has a stammer which has been with him since childhood, but which markedly increased after his traumatic experience being attacked in 1218 while on a research excursion. Over time, it is beginning to return to what - for him - is normal, though in moments of stress, nervousness or anxiety the increase is once again noticable. Despite his introverted nature, Eranur is not lacking in confidence however, and his stammer is not a source of embarassment for him.

History
Eranur, a foundling, was adopted by a human/elf mixed race couple from Das whose family name, taken from the human, was Redtree. During the adolescence of Eranur - who chooses not to use the name of his adoptive family and as a foundling has no birthname - his adoptive parents had a biological child who they named Eric, after his human father. Eranur - named Aeranur and assigned female at birth - transitioned to living as his male self when his younger brother Eric was around 14 years old. The two were never particularly close, possibly because of Eranur's quiet, studious nature being in heavy contrast to Eric's easygoing, somewhat dramatic though not unlikable personality. Sometime after Eranur left the family home and attended the University of Arcana in Illyria however, during a visit home the relationship quite suddenly soured for unknown reasons, more so on Eranur's side. Patched up a little since with time then, the relationship between the two has nevertheless never fully recovered.

Eranur and Eric both took after their mother and pursued magical studies, although the younger brother chose the path of a mage while the older - less naturally gifted in magic - chose the path of an artificer of magical items, at which he excels.
Wealth & Financial state
Eranur is rumoured to be extremely wealthy, owing to both his part in his father's inheritance many decades ago and to his highly sucessful career in academia and artificing. Neither of these income sources are unusually immense, but Eranur's reclusive tendencies, his access to rent-free quarters in the University as part of his job, and his simple habits both in clothing and food, result in him spending almost nothing of what he acquires, and with the lifespan of a half elf these quantities soon begin to mount up.
