Master Eric Redtree is a powerful but - by his own admission - unfocused mage from Das who works in the areas of alchemy, artificing, spellcasting, scroll-making and enchanting.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Redtree is extremely slender, but not unhealthily thin, and has a well-toned physique. His face, which is naturally very pale, often shows signs of tiredness or fatigue when he has been caught up in work or experiments.
Identifying Characteristics
Redtree has white hair, like many elves and half-elves, and indeed like his adopted brother Eranur despite the lack of blood-relation. However, unlike his brother, Eric has chosen to cut his hair short and to style it in the manner of human males, rather than embrace the long, natural hair which is so typical of elven masculinity. He takes great pride in his appearance, works out regularly and usually looks put-together no matter the hour or occasion.

Redtree often chooses tight base layers with flowing robes over them, which creates a silhouette which flatters his toned physique - which he works hard to maintain and takes pride in - without sacrificing the professional 'mage-like' look which he is aware his customers expect.

Personal history
Redtree was born to a mixed race family living in Das, with an Elf mother and a Human father. Several years before, his parents had adopted a foundling - now known as Eranur - who was therefore his older sibling. When Eric was fourteen years old, his sibling came out as transgender and thus he now refers to himself as having a brother, rather than an older sister as he once thought.
After his brother left their hometown to study in Illyria at the University of Arcana, Eric remained at home for another couple of decades. After the death of his human father, Redtree purchase a plot of land on the human side of the town with his inheritance and built a tower which functioned as both home and workshop, from which he began a business as a mage-for-hire.
After The Adventuring Party of Nerevarn saved him from one of his own experiments which nearly cost him his life, he considered that he owed them a favour, which he has recently returned in agreeing to pose as a slave of the dragon Zamascryon to further the party's efforts to defeat said dragon. 'Posing' as a slave turned out upon further enquiry to mean actually being enslaved on the assurance that the party would shortly help him to escape, but he nevertheless agreed to go through with the plan, considering that firstly he owed them his life, and secondly that it would provide an opportunity to see close-at-hand some of the rarest magical items in the known world, which form part of his new 'master's' hoard.

Employment
Redtree was informally tutored in the art of magic from a young age by his extremely talented mother. Despite lacking a formal education like that of his sibling, it quickly became apparent that Redtree displayed a natural aptitude for almost any kind of arcane study he tried, although it was equally clear that he lacked the drive required to truly excel at any one of them.
Intellectual Characteristics
Eric Redtree is a man of two personas, business and pleasure. When dealing with customers, he is Master Redtree: aloof and intimidating, a professional and impersonal mage who deals in the arcane. However, those that get to know him discover that he is in fact somewhat flamboyant and extremely chatty, as well as unusually without-filter when it comes to giving his opinion or discussing his personal life. He is sharp-minded and witty, and can also be sharp-tonged if someone has personally displeased him, but he is not without friendliness, and shows genuine willingness to help those who do likewise for him.

Family Ties
Redtree still regularly visits his mother, who lives on the other side of the river, in the elven part of town. His relationship with his older brother Eranur is shaky for reasons which neither have ever chosen to fully share: the two were never close, but the relationship took a turn for the worse quite suddenly during one of Eranur's visits home from the university, and has recovered only extremely slowly, and never completely.
Hobbies & Pets
Redtree keeps no physical pets, but is rarely without his summoned familiar - a medium sized snowy owl simply named 'owl'. According to Redtree himself, this is a purely practical arrangement and he sees owl as nothing more than an arcane assistant to be conjured or banished at his will. However, those who have seen them interact would probably have noticed that Owl is never in fact dismissed back into the ether, Redtree choosing instead to provide her (an unliving, arcana-created creature with no physical needs) with a perch, nesting box and an open window to fly in and out of freely whenever she wishes.
Relationships
History
Eranur, a foundling, was adopted by a human/elf mixed race couple from Das whose family name, taken from the human, was Redtree. During the adolescence of Eranur - who chooses not to use the name of his adoptive family and as a foundling has no birthname - his adoptive parents had a biological child who they named Eric, after his human father. Eranur - named Aeranur and assigned female at birth - transitioned to living as his male self when his younger brother Eric was around 14 years old. The two were never particularly close, possibly because of Eranur's quiet, studious nature being in heavy contrast to Eric's easygoing, somewhat dramatic though not unlikable personality. Sometime after Eranur left the family home and attended the University of Arcana in Illyria however, during a visit home the relationship quite suddenly soured for unknown reasons, more so on Eranur's side. Patched up a little since with time then, the relationship between the two has nevertheless never fully recovered.

Eranur and Eric both took after their mother and pursued magical studies, although the younger brother chose the path of a mage while the older - less naturally gifted in magic - chose the path of an artificer of magical items, at which he excels.
