Darkvision
Darkvision is a nightclub and cabaret bar that focuses on drag acts and original music.
Purpose / Function
Darkvision is an entertainment venue aimed at, though not exclusively for, Illyria's LGBT+ community and residents. Unlike a tavern, the focus is on the performers - mostly drag artists - rather than the alcohol, and patrons visit to watch the artists, listen to the original music by the club's composer, dance and socialise. The performers do not receive a fixed pay, since they are not employees, but can expect to earn significant tips from the club's patrons if their performance is well received.
Design
The interior of Darkvision is themed with a purple tone, with magically powered lighting creating a glow of colour over the stage and dancefloor. The entrance is a staircase leading downward from the street, into the main bar and seating area. Walking past the central bar leads to the dancefloor.
Valuables
The club is home to an unusual form of showing appreciation: a magically glowing powder available in various colours which is thrown into the air by the patrons. Sold by traders in the club, the recipe is kept a secret. Functioning like glitter, the magic powder sticks to people, surfaces and clothing in the same way, but disappears after one hour.
History
Darkvision moved to its current location in Dockland Narrows, then called Spinner's Gate, after receiving noise complaints from those living near its previous location. Taking the opportunity of the move, the club was expanded from a small, informal bar with a makeshift stage to its current form, and began to advertise.
