Veninedute Character in Under an Iron Sky | World Anvil

Veninedute (ˈvenineˈdute)

Lady of Wealth Veninedute Briknomm

“Of course, I want tourism to be restored. The Miylian Elders worshipped me as a goddess of wealth and tourism is a great business,” Veninedute stated.

Divine Domains

Commerce, trading, pacts, money, and taxes.   Money important to her shpere and the use of money. All money related things fall her domain from retail to bartering in markets trade is very important because money is changing hands. She believes in paying dues and keeping her word so taxes also fall into her domain and she is the reason why people are encouraged to pay. Pacts and keeping promises are important to her.

Artifacts

Veni an ancient currency that was considered scared. Tampering with the weight and seal is considered blasphemous. Only Priest can mint new coins.   Her Divine Standard comprises several artifacts that much like the veni coins can only be created by her priest. First is the Measure Rod which would sometimes be a fabric tape for more accessible storage. The width of her hand is the standard for more minor things, the width of her forearm for bigger things, the height for still bigger, and the size of her dragon form for measuring land. There were various sizes of the rod and further breakdowns for even smaller measurements.   The Divine Standard wasn’t just for measurement but for weight as well.

Holy Books & Codes

Her holy book is used to teach economics and had the laws related to commerce and ownership and the prices of slaves, land, and livestock it is called Codex of Veninedute.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

In statues of her in the few shrines of her that are still standing she can be shown holding her codex in one hand sometimes the weight or the measure is in that as well handing from her forearm at the elbow or also in her other hand. Sometimes she is holding the Codex in one hand and the weight in the other. The smaller shrines of her that are ruins of what scholars believe are old auction houses have her holding the weight in one hand and the measure in the other to her exact height.   Her face is on the veni coins and a scale to represent the weight on the other side a profile of the goddess's face.

Tenets of Faith

Veninedute is one of the few lawful gods in her pantheon, so following the law is vital to her and her worship. She doesn’t condone theft or the destruction of property of any kind unless the destruction is done by the owner of the item.   Using honest measurements and weights while trading and dealing with commerce is essential to her and is important to the practice of her religion. Tampering with the weights, measures, and coins that serve as her symbol will be not only illegal but is a crime against the goddess.   Veninedute doesn't condone the destruction or theft of any property. The only person that could destroy their property is the owner of the property. Those who are caught in the act of theft are to return the items that they stole and must serve a few days in prison and serve penance by working in the Temple of Veninedute. Those that destroy property, whether clothes, livestock, home goods, slaves, and land, must pay the Divine Standard's price to the owner regardless of the type of damage. In addition to the Standard's price if the property is dead, soiled, and can't be resold the standard's price is doubled and the defiler must serve several months in prison and work in the Temple of Veninedute for penance for several years.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Her known goal is to make sure people use good measurements and are responsible with their money.
