Blessing of the Spider Queen

Transmission & Vectors

The Blessing of the Spider Queen is given through the ritual called the Drider Rite and is not contagious. The ritual transforms Elves into Drider which are spider creatures.

Causes

Back when Ci Scá Múnt was the primarily religion in Knomm Grähi where the Temple of the Spider Queen use to be in Ubudongiu the Drider Rite was normal this condition was common.   Back in the days of Spider Queen Solsínabh reign as the Goddess of Creation it was normal for several young Nuossa Nualestota to be brought to the Temple to go through the rite. At least four young people are selected by lot in October which is the holy month of Solsínabh and the young people that are eligible to undergo the rite must be presented to the temple and place their names and home town and they will not be able to move from those until the window of the draw is over. Two of the people that are selected are from small towns and two are from major cities. When their names are drawn they will go to the temple and go through the Drider Rite.

Symptoms

The Blessing of the Spider Queen is given through the Drider Rite and it turns the participant into Drider which is a spider creature with the torse of the Elf placed on top of the legs and body of a Giant Spider.

Treatment

The transformation of being a Drider does leave some trauma in the minds and bodies of the new Drider. Many are afraid of what they become and it takes them some time to accept what they are now. Those that didn't want to become a Drider will have a harder time adjusting. Many of them also experience grief after they become Drider because the rite takes away their ability to sexually reproduce and that can be hard to let go of. Therapy and talking with other Drider can help lessen the feelings about being Drider.

Prognosis

The condition cannot be reversed and is chronic. The new spider body would allow the Drider to walk on walls and ceilings, the ability to carry more than weight, spin webs, and with Solsínabh being their patron goddess a boost in charisma.

Affected Groups

Nuossa Nualestota Miylian Elder Elves were the people primarily affected.

Prevention

The only way to avoid the Blessing of the Spider Queen back when Ci Scá Múnt was the main religion was not be drawn. In the modern era, there isn't much need to worry about the condition because the Drider Rite is not being practiced.

Cultural Reception

Back when this was a normal rite the Drider were not feared and were considered to be a normal part of everyday life. Nowadays they are feared because they now stay to the caves of The Waves.
