Ward Jermin

Ward Jermin (a.k.a. Dead Eye)

Ward Jermin is the oldest son and heir of Hollis Jermin of Town of Dunhill in the County of Redstone. He is a 40-year-old Human that is not well regarded by his community.

Behind his back, Ward is often referred to as "Dead Eye" by the residents of Dunhill because he is blind in his left eye since birth. This has meant that Ward was not able to learn the skills of a soldier and warrior in a society where defense and preparedness are of paramount importance. Ward is particularly sensitive of this flaw in his physique, and no one that knows him would ever call him Dead Eye to his face.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ward is just short of 6' tall and has a strong, athletic build. His brown hair is worn long and loose and his beard is neatly trimmed with just a touch of his father's gray starting to present. His good right eye is a light brown, while his blind eye is immovable with a nearly black iris.

Physical quirks

Ward is prone to stare at people for an uncomfortable amount of time to force them to look away first. Whether he knows it or not, this draws immediate attention to his blind eye, making the physical flaw he is so sensitive of instantly the focus of attention.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Ward is known as an utter fop to anyone that gets to know him for even a short time. He wears very expensive clothing and jewelry at all times of the day or night and delights in showing off his wealth and influence throughout the Dunhill region. He has come to expect that all his meanest wants and desires will be met with a demand or command.

Vices & Personality flaws

There is a persistent rumor amongst the staff in Jermin House that, on their wedding night, much shouting and yelling could be heard coming from the couple's chamber. After only an hour behind a closed door, Ward left the room in a rage. Wendyl did not leave the room for nine days, however, and her attendants noticed a distinct swelling over her left eye. Staff and servants now regularly jest that that was the ONLY time Ward ever touched his wife. Many fear what would happen if word of this encounter ever got back to the Royal House of Bolder.

Social

Family Ties

Ward is married to Wendal Bolder, a far cousin of the heir to the Throne of the Kingdom, Will Bolder. The marriage was arranged and is not a happy one. Wendal detests her husband, and the marriage has been fruitless.

Ward is not close to anyone in his family. His younger brother, Hugh Jermin, tolerates his brother's attitudes when necessary, but avoids any personal contact with him. His cousin, Clay Jermin, grew up bullied and abused by Ward and is cold and stiff whenever they are together at social or official functions.

History

The marriage of Ward Jermin and Wendyl Bolder was arranged by Hollis Jermin and Wendyl's father, Roland Bolder, in 221 AF. Hollis dismissed the necessity of a dowry to ensure that the unequal status of the two families didn't hold up the engagement. Wendyl had very little say in the arrangement, and grew more and more anxious as the engagement drew closer to the wedding event.

History

Ward and Edina have been involved in their relationship for more than 12 years, but Ward has been keeping Edina and her children in a large and opulently appointed house with a staff of more than 10 servants for the last 6 years. Edina insists on only the finest and most costly foods, wines, furniture and clothes for herself and her children. The cost to the Jermin family for the house and servants alone exceeds 500 guineas a year ($200,000), and Ward is having an increasingly more difficult time hiding these expenses from his father.
