Edina Freeman
Edina Freeman (a.k.a. Eddie)
Edina Freeman is the paramour of Ward Jermin and the mother of three illegitimate children by him. She lives in a very large house in the Town of Dunhill with a full staff of servants at the expense of Ward and his family.
She has three daughters with Ward. Jenna, aged 10; Dawn, aged 7; and Rose, aged 4. These children are hopelessly spoiled and frequently left in the care of nannies for days on end whenever Edina decides she needs to progress through a larger circle of society.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Short, petite and remarkably beautiful. Her face is flawless, her hair a shiny golden blonde and her eyes are such a pale hazel color that they seem almost gold colored.
Physical quirks
Due to years of exposure to caustic lye soaps as a child, her feet are scarred and course to the point of deformity, but these scars do not extend past her ankles. She hides her scars easily with over-large shoes and thick stockings, which she explains as due to chronically cold feet, even in the hottest summers.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Edina knows nothing about her parents. Her earliest memories are of cleaning laundry at a riverside brothel in the City of Jemptal. As a very young child, she would be forced to tread through tubs of soaking bedsheets to clean them, and she clearly recalls how sore and tender her feet would get from the lye water used in the tubs. Her feet still bear the signs of hard use for many years.
She was blessed with a beautiful face and fine, golden blonde hair, and her place within the brothel was guaranteed because of them.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Edina is completely motivated by the fundamental need to acquire enough money to live a lavish and opulent lifestyle with no effort whatsoever on her part. She has found her source of this money in Ward Jermin, a very wealthy man from Dunhill in the Ward of Rolar. She has beguiled him with her womanly charms to a point where he has become convinced he cannot live without her, even though he is married to a beautiful woman of royal blood.
Vices & Personality flaws
Edina knows a deadly secret about the Jermin family, and Ward suspects she knows something so dangerous as to threaten his entire family's way of life. It is only his utter inability to imagine life without her that prevents him from making sure the secret isn't exposed by her.
Social
Family Ties
Her only family are her illegitimate children by Ward. Edina has no emotional connection to Ward at all, other than the fundamental desire to take every penny she can from him with as little effort as possible on her part.
Social Aptitude
While she is smart enough to realize that she cannot openly admit that she is the kept woman of one of the wealthiest men in the Kingdom, Edina is not shy about living a lavish and costly lifestyle, especially in such a small and close community as Dunhill.
Mannerisms
Aloof and condescending in the extreme to anyone that she feels is (or should be) beneath her, and extremely cold and dismissive of those that are above her actual or perceived social status.
Speech
Able to pass herself off to strangers as educated and well-groomed, at least initially. However, her lack of education and inability to read or write quickly become apparent to anyone that has to speak to her for any extended length of time.
Relationships
History
Ward and Edina have been involved in their relationship for more than 12 years, but Ward has been keeping Edina and her children in a large and opulently appointed house with a staff of more than 10 servants for the last 6 years. Edina insists on only the finest and most costly foods, wines, furniture and clothes for herself and her children. The cost to the Jermin family for the house and servants alone exceeds 500 guineas a year ($200,000), and Ward is having an increasingly more difficult time hiding these expenses from his father.
