Rih'kiel
Race of the Hyperion Federation with abilities that seem like magic to anyone else. These abilities arised due to very advanced genetic modification. Their homeworld is on Raria.
The rih'kiel have an additional organ located on their head. When this is in use, it becomes bioluminescent and emits a bright light, causing the person to use one of these abilities. The abilities are tied loosely to the colour of this organ. Furthermore, the colour of the person's eye depends directly on the colour of the ability organ, and also glow when using abilities. It would be more accurate to tie the ability to which pocket dimension a person has descended from.

This method of digestion means that the stomachs cannot damage themselves with acid though. The rih'kiel also have a conventional lung for their respiratory system. Rather than taking in air through the mouth, they breathe through the nose. The nose and mouth are not interconnected, so the mouth is mostly just an enterance to their digestive system. Rather than communicating through the lungs, they create sound by vibrating their neck at a massive variety of different frequencies, allowing them to make a huge range of noises and various different accents. The rih'kiel are not familar with the concept of gender. They reproduce asexually, a single individual being able to create offspring. Due to genetic engineering, they will only reproduce when the body detects a specific chemical, usually obtained through digestion. When a rih'kiel decides they want a child, they will eat some foods designed for that. It is not known how the rih'kiel used to reproduce before they modified themselves for this, nor are the reasons that they remade themselves like this. After detecting this chemical, their womb will probably begin to grow an embryo, taking several months to fully develop. After reaching an age of about 25, their body and womb will fully develop and they become capable of creating their own offspring.

The rih'kiel are less well known for their unique digestive systems. The rih'kiel stomach makes no use of acid or other chemicals, but instead churn food inside. They have a chambred stomach, as food is broken down into more pastelike states of matter as it contiues. Each stomach has filters preventing large objects entreing smaller chambers. After being fully broken down, it is then sent to an organ resebling lungs which absorbs any useful nutrients into the bloodstream. The blood is then sent to one of the rih'kiel's 2 livers and filtered. Waste material that does not reach the blood stream is instead moved to the bladder, which is located close to their 'intestine', before being removed from the body. They have genetically modified themselves to become very powerful, and their bodies very reliable, but these engineered DNA strands have decayed significantly which has impacted the reliability of many organs. Their intestine-lung can fill up with food which blocks access from the stomachs and possibly cause sickness. This also means that larger objects that are not likely to be destroyed by the initial stomach chamber are likely to be regurgitated or remain in the stomach for years. The abilities make a large part of Rih'kiel culture. They will probably be treated differently by other members of its species depending on their ability. Yellow eyed Rih'kiel will sometimes be seen as experts in technology, even if this is not the case in reality. No one will even try to hide anything from a purple eyed Rih'kiel. These are just examples, and no one ability is seen as superior to others. This gets more complex when one considers that one's ability may vary from their eye colour and appearance.

Just before the Calamity, they would have been stronger than the entire Federation combined, although said Calamity reduced their star nation to a mere shadow of itself. Their homeworld was made uninhabitale because of it.
The Calamity happened partly because of this power, though - the species developed technologies that, while extremely powerful, damaged their stability. For example, genetic modification was very common, as was Antimatter Bolter Rifles, to give just 2 examples. These are banned by the Federation because of lessons learned form the Calamity. They also lived in 7 different, very large pocket dimensions that are only acessible by massive Dimension Vault pocket megastructures which orbit Vars 12V at a variety of different radii.
By the time they were discovered by the Federation, all they had left was a few, huge, habitation stations that they lived on, all their own worlds being rendered uninhabitable. If this continued, more habitats would have fallen, so it was thought they would have gone extinct. The Federation found them in this state and invited the Rih'kiel to join it. Faced with annihilation, they gladly accepted. As many now live in Federation worlds such as Paragon, they are no longer endangered. However, the Rih'kiel population is still only extremely small in comparison to other races.

Historical Figures
Paneflrang - Leader of the Rih’kiel Remnant. As a survivor of the Calamity, he is not subject to the rapid genetic decay of his species, making him semi-immortal. His green eye ability is largely improved, allowing him to maintain contact indefinitely and whenever he wants.
Darokbranor - Also a Calamity survivor. He has yellow eyes, allowing him to disrupt enemy creaft easily. After seeing what Tarlox can do, he was inspired to become a War-Engineer, eventually achieving the rank of Master War-Engineer.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Anyone of the Hyperion Federation saved us from probable extinction. Very good opinion.
As such, their enemies are the same as those of the rest of the HF.
Non - sentient organisms - largely beneath our notice
The rih'kiel race has modified itself to better survive the adverse conditions of space. Firstly, rih'kiel bones will never decay due to a lack of gravity, and they have given themselves an extra respiratory organ which allows them to store a large amount of air which the same organ can compress. Due to this, rih'kiel can breathe for about 10 minutes while exposed to the vacuum.
Their bodies are also designed to withstand adverse forces causing them to split apart under a vacuum due to a lack of air pressure. In space, their generation of body heat will also cause them to melt. To prevent this, the body automatically stops production of body heat and can also radiate it via exhaling air.
