Iota Gauras III
A planet in the Iota Gauras System, which is owned by the Hyperion Federation and orbits the Zeta Halanet dark matter star.
Iota Gauras III was a relatively large planet within the habitable radius of the parent star. Due to the self-replicating AI machine, however, the planet is barren because the self-replicating machine took too much energy from the planet, killing off all life at the time. In fact, remnants of a previous civilization are present on the planet, opening up the possibility that this previous civilization constructed the self-replicating AI. This theory is not commonly accepted though because the technology of the robots was far more advanced than this primitive civilization had. Investigations continue, on both the robots and the dead civilization.
It is probable, however, that the dimming caused by the robots caused the destruction of this civilization.
Currently, the HF has established an exclusion zone near the planet, but only ships with explicit permission may access. These are almost always science ships meant to investigate the lost civilization. They have removed the robots from the planet as to not allow it to consume resources from the world, potentially destroying wreckages. This is the only planet in the system that does not have a large robot megastructure around it.
The planet also has a retrograde rotation, meaning it rotates in the opposite direction. This causes the sun to rise in the West and set in the East which has fooled more than one navigator on the planet. They are quickly corrected, as GPS units are constantly in use around the world.
