Iota Gauras I
A planet in the Iota Gauras System, a system that orbits the Zeta Halanet System dark matter star and owned by the Hyperion Federation.
Iota Gauras I was a lava planet before the HF constructed a Matrioshka Brain there. It was used as a mining world like most lava planets, and the self-replicating machines in the system helped greatly in this task, especially when the HF modified it to use Hyperion technology. It continues to provide the system with a lot of metal ores despite being a very cold planet now, after the matrioshka brain was built, reducing all sunlight on this world to nearly 0. Some radiation still comes from Zeta Halanet, but this is a comparatively weak source of radiation, and emits no visible light. A small amount of antimatter reaches the atmosphere, but often deflected by the magnetosphere.
Iota Gauras I has been made into a very cold planet. Although the crust and even mantle is entirely frozen over, there is still some equipment designed for lava planet mining such as lava collection equipment. These have been largely abandoned now, sometimes the wreckages are also broken and recycled. The self-replicating machine has constructed a large, planet-wide megastructure that can extract a huge measure of materials and fully automating the planet. It obtains energy itself from the matrioshka brain.
