The Creighton Pantheon

The Creighton Pantheon is a group of deities recognized by the Order of Aristea and includes many of the most popular gods worshipped on Arith. The Order does not outlaw the worship of other deities, but will only fund the construction of temples and churches to officially recognized deities. While the public story of the pantheon is that the Order created it to foster unity amongst their people, the High Council had another far more pressing matter to consider.   When Gods are worshipped, they gain power. This can most easily be seen in gods like Khoran and Tyr, who are loved by their people and in turn have great power in the heavens. However, a less understood way of gaining worship is something akin to infamy. Kai'ri the Wavemother is a great example of this idea, as she is incredibly powerful yet lacks a dedicated base of loving worshippers. Instead, sailors pray at her shrines before venturing out to sea and venerate the chaotic goddess with images painted on their vessels.   This is the real reason why Creighton has been added to the pantheon. During her battle with Vydona, the nature goddess bound herself to Creighton, cursing them both with unending apathy. Trapped in a pocket dimension with one of her fiercest enemies, lacking any will to deliver the final strike, the Void Mother lays on the ground completely still, yet not dead. However, thanks to the mechanics of the curse, should either of the Goddess's die, the living one will gain a surge of power great enough to break free from the Apathy, forever changed. As they are bound, the living goddess would arise as a cursed amalgamation of nature and void, good and evil, with power great enough to level Thelekar.   There are only two ways for gods to die. The first is to be slain by specially crafted weapons like Red Obsidian, and to be mantled after a smashing defeat. The second method is for the worship of a deity to simply end. They become forgotten, and they either regress into mortality once more, or fade entirely from existence. Should either Vydona or Creighton die, their accursed amalgamation will rise in their place. This is why both of these supposedly dead goddesses appear on the Creighton Pantheon and have dedicated worshippers in major cities.   Entering the Age of Swords, the Creighton Pantheon currently consists of:
