The Siblings

Tiriana and Fairyn Keltris

Fairyn and Tiriana are the patron gods of Tysha, serving as the backbone of its henotheistic society. They are known as The Siblings, and though to other nations they may simply be two of many other gods in a pantheon, they remain the most important divines to the Tyshan people. While the worship of these gods is not exactly unique or remote, their most devout followers worship them in their own way, with holy texts and scriptures revealed only to certain prophets and priests in the snowy nation, including their history and connection with other gods.   According to the Choir, the discovery of these gods was accidental. During Zero Year, a scion of House Viret discovered a ruin of Old Drataria within the Myrkvid Mountains, north of the Witewood. Upon the outer walls were abyssal runes of binding, wards meant to keep something powerful contained. Prince Davon Viret, however, could sense the divine light within the ruin. He and his councilors determined that during the fall of the old empire, a celestial or other similar being aligned with Mount Celestia was trapped within by the enemy and needed help to free itself. At once, with help from Diedre's Torchbearers, the crew managed to break the ward, finding not one but two divine beings within. They introduced themselves as Fairyn and Tiriana Keltris, warriors of the Sunfire Legion, meant to join the Stormlord during his siege upon Mount Celestia. They were assailed before they could join the main force, however, and trapped within the tomb by conspirators from the Abyss. With their power restored, they could once again govern the domains of Life and Death, which had not had dedicated divines since Ascension Day.   The scion returned to Honrich, sharing the good news and becoming the first Pontifex of the Chantry. Pontifex Davon Viret is the man responsible for a majority of the structuring of the Church of Hope, from the hierarchy to the proper prayers to the distrust of all arcana. Each of these decisions was, of course, backed up by The Siblings themselves, with new scripture being added to the holy tomes each day. Soon, the simplified version of this book was distributed across the nation, allowing for all to see the worth of the religion. Within a century, the Church of Hope had become the national religion, and by the Age of Swords, it was intrinsically tied with the High Table and its Quintarchy. The worship The Siblings receive from Tysha is so zealous, in fact, that the Torchbearers who worship the Purifying Light can no longer call upon the domain of Life, as that has been tied so closely to Tiriana since she was freed.

The Hopeful

Tiriana Keltris represents the raw power of life and and has become restoration and healing incarnate. Though once an elven swordsman, she has chosen to take on an avatar in the shape of a great feathered dragon, with fur in place of scales. When she appears during rituals of communion, she is no larger than a lion, though reports do indicate that during Zero Year, her wingspan would block out the sun for nearly a minute when she flew above Thelekar. Thanks to her appearance, feathers are highly important in the ceremonies and garb of the Church of Hope, and her highest priests wear white and gold feather mantles during public appearances. According to Gond, one of the Old Gods, Tiriana has such an undisputed grasp on healing that when clerics of other gods call upon their divine power to bring someone back to life, Tiriana is partially invoked and present over the ritual. With her ascension, she has become the goddess of the Promised Gardens, a lush island full of life and beauty, where the sun shines and the days are always free. Through her power, clerics find themselves able to invoke the domain of Life, and when worshiped together with her brother as The Siblings, the Grave domain as well.

The Death Eternal

Fairyn Keltris is the less popular of The Siblings, and yet he has many more names that people whisper when invoking his likeness. The Death Eternal, Lord Death, and The Inevitable End are all frightening names for a God who does his best to make death as comfortable as possible. As the governor of the Ebonsphere, its Fairyn's job to oversee the souls of all who did not accomplish great works worthy of the Promised Gardens, but have not sworn themselves to the Abyss through acts of villainy and cruelty. Its a calm and comfortable afterlife where they can wait for loved ones to join them for eternity. Fairyn himself takes on an appearance distinct from that of both his origins as a Sarion'ilathon and his sisters feathered form - he appears human, well dressed in a fur lined Tyshan coat, with simple brass spectacles resting on his hooked nose. He is not yet an old man, though his black hair is streaked with grey, and wrinkles have begun showing more clearly on his forehead and around his eyes. When appearing for a communion ritual, the spellcaster will envision themselves in his study, where he reads from the Books of Time, his holy artifacts that detail the lives of every mortal to have ever been born on Thelekar. His followers have two options upon death-- becoming guardians of the Ebonsphere to prevent poachers like devils and liches from claiming souls, or joining the Promised Army and having their bodies interred in special crypts, ready to defend the civilians of many Tyshan settlements as undead thralls. In life, clerics of Fairyn find themselves able to command the domains of both Death and the Grave.
