The Changebringer

The Changebringer Lyris Frolov (a.k.a. God of the Moon,)

Lyris Frolov

Lyris was one of Khoran's lieutenants in the Sunfire Legion prior to the siege of Mount Celestia. He was always chaotic and unpredictable prior to his ascension along with his peers, but this trait became all the more apparent with his newly acquired divinity. Though he serves as a lesser to Moonmaiden Selûne, he has not been relegated to the position of godling, as so many other lesser gods are. Instead, Selûne tasked him with acting as Vizara's opposite, bringing some much-needed change to the cosmos above. As Vizara worked to iron out the kinks of the heavenly bodies, Lyris creates travelling comets and perfect imperfections in her plans. His chaos brings balance to her order, and without his works, the chaotic nature of the realm would eventually find a way past the Pyrelord's rigid boundaries and rules, spelling doom for many mortals.   Of course, given his chaotic nature, the Changebringer cant be expected to spend all his time out in the cosmos with only Vizara to keep him company. Lyris makes a habit of travelling the planes, taking mementos from beautiful places and inserting himself into events he has no right to be in. One such event was the fateful meeting between Ukus gro-Bura and the Leviathans of the Grey Expanse- or so it is known as today. Ukus had originally planned on challenging the greatest of the Leviathans to a duel, to protect the Highlands from their rampages. However, Lyris took on the form of an old seer, granting the orcish hero what he called "secret knowledge of the ancients." Armed with this secret, Ukus was instead able to form a pact with the Leviathans to not only leave the Highlands out of their battles, but to prevent other forces from moving upon them. This particular instance of Lyris sticking his nose into mortal affairs caught the attention of Syrus, the patron god of all Orcs. The two began a romance that required each of them to provide the opposite of their natures, and as a result, has never properly been sealed like the marriage pacts of other gods. Syrus, being a god of pacts, love, and loyalty, was almost incompatible with Lyris, a god of change, travel, and chaos. Despite this, the two have never paid any romantic attention to other gods, and will likely continue their courtship for millennia to come.   This relationship is unfortunately quite rare for a chaotic spirit like Lyris. His presence always leads to the smallest of imperfections upon the plans of others- he is the ripple across a still body of water, the black spot in the fur of a pure white cat, the first signs of age appearing on a young person's face. As a result, he is often shunned from the work of his fellow gods, for fear that his presence will ruin their creations. This lonely existence has allowed him to see himself in mortal lives, resulting in Lyris taking on the role of Patron of the Lost. Those who do not fit into society's strict rules and laws, those that do not have anyone else in the world, those that are shunned for things out of their control. They will have at least one friend in Lyris, and he makes sure to look out for them when he is allowed.    These lost travellers have begun building monuments to Lyris; no grrand temples or mauseleums, but small gardens where wildflowers are allowed to grow. The careful lawnscaping you may see in Starlight Cathedrals is utterly lacking in these wild patches of land within cities, and as a result, they bring a level of comfort to those who tend them. Followers of the Changebringer will often request that their ashes be planted within these gardens, so their physical bodies can change form and continue bringing disorder to the careful order of city planning.
