Sirasion Contingency
Formed from the Sirasion civil war that took place shortly after the Galactic Peace Treaty was signed by all five major factions, the Contingency stands to some as a group of upstarts wanting only to cause strife in a galaxy that has only just began recovering after decades of warfare, but to others a shining example of what the Sirasion people could be if they realized their birth right as masters of the milky way galaxy.
Structure
The Contingency functions in a similar way to the likes of The Sirasion Empire , the leadership is determined by the power of an individual or collective group. The Contingency however is (somehow) even more militarized than the Empire, with every citizen taking up military roles. Being entirely comprised of Sirasions, people of the contingency are subject to a much tougher rite of adulthood than in the Empire, but instead of being a test like it is in the Empire, in the Contingency it is the deciding factor of where your skills will be most useful in the military ranks. Complete failure will often have that individual placed into the aptly nicknamed 'fodder' divisions. these divisions being the first into the most difficult and/or suicidal battle situations.
The Contingency holds most of its might in its fleet, the territory it controls being home to three of the biggest Sirasion ship yards, each capable of churning out vast amounts of star ships. The Contingency also lacks access to the Wardroid Divisions synonymous with Sirasion warfare, this due to the civil war that happened between them and the Sirasion Empire. Instead the Contingency rely on more conventional ground vehicles to make up for their lack of war droids.
Public Agenda
The true goal of the Contingency is unclear. From its inception it has always been to be the dominant force of Sirasions in the galaxy and to have complete control over the galaxy as a whole, subjugating all the 'lesser' races beneath their rule, this however did not come to pass as the Sirasion Empire managed to keep them contained to imperial territories.
Currently the Contingency and the Empire work closely together, while both remain separate and independent to one another, they both support each other's economies through trade.
Assets
The Contingency constitutes roughly 35% of the galaxies Sirasion, a staggering number when compared to the total population of Sirasions spread across the entire galaxy. Lacking war droids, the contingency make up for it with conventional land vehicles, designs far more akin to the armored vehicles used by the Galactic Alliance.
Perhaps the biggest asset of the Contingency is their access to raw materials and places to build ships. They themselves have access to three ship building yards just as extensive as The Kronus Shipyards in imperial territories, these three stations capable of churning out dozens of ships very quickly and since their formation, the Contingency have been furiously pumping resources into ship production. It is speculated the only thing stopping the Contingency from building up a fleet bigger than the Sirasion Empire's is the lack of men and women they have to crew them.
In more recent times, the Contingency have began employing the use of specialized battle droids to take the place of their warriors on the ground and in crewing ships, with their ventures into the Galactic Core, the Contingency have come across even more resources that they have funneled into research and production of infantry sized droids.
History
The Sirasion species in the grand scheme of things is a relatively young space fairing race, only having been hyperspace capable for a few centuries. The huge shift as they entered the wider galaxy meant a lot of their social structure was forced to change around it. Formerly, on Siran, the Sirasion people were united as one under the banner of the Sirasion Empire, but as the various interstellar wars came and went, the single banner of the Sirasion empire threatened to fall apart, especially with the drastic changes in leadership.
The first emperor of the interstellar Sirasion Empire war Zurrok, his brilliant mind and innovations being the key factor in the empire's success, but as the time went on and galactic events unfolded, Zurrok would eventually become unable to lead the Empire. Previously all the Sirasion people respected him as one of their own despite him being a human, this mostly being due to the technology and growth he alone had provided. But over time, more and more Sirasions became disenchanted with Zurrok's leadership, forming pro-Sirasion upstart groups that would violently protest against the regime. While these small groups were more of a nuisance, there came a point when they became a huge problem. Due to a number of reasons, including the systematic elimination of Zurrok's entire family and the strange, extra galactic events that unfolded during the outbreak of Wendigo Syndrome, he stepped down, appointing the vastly admired and respected Sal'tarn Darkstar as the new Emperor.
Choosing Darkstar as his successor was something that came completely unforseen by the other factions, many of them immediately making preparations for an all out imperial assault, which as the radical leader took control, came in the form of the invasion of New Skara. The political divide in the Sirasion Empire however only seemed to get worse, with a large number of the population still being in favor of Zurrok as a leader. However there was one major factor that kept the Empire together, and that was their fight against the other factions and lust for domination of the galaxy, it was this factor that stopped the empire from tearing itself apart, and as Bashi was defeated and the leadership of all five major factions decided that there would be no more fighting between them, that is exactly what happened.
A large group of people who believed the Sirasions had a right to be at the top of the pile broke off from the main Empire, holding more traditional ideals and a far more militaristic outlook, many of these people were extremists and Darkstar loyalists. They were extremely unaccommodating to other races, but despite this, more and more Sirasions flocked to their cause. The Siraison people were clearly starting to regress back to their former state on Siran, where they were divided and lived in racial tribes. Desperate not to let this happen, the Sirasion War Council, who were lacking a leader, declared war on this upstart faction that had by now become known as the Sirasion Contingency, calling themselves the solution to a future where the other factions would walk all over the Sirasion people.
As brutal civil war erupted between the two factions, the Empire was essentially split in two. Over the course of several decades not much was heard from the Sirasions as they battled amongst themselves. With the Sirasion ideology being hardwired to gravitate towards the most powerful group of Sirasion individuals, the Empire had to find a way to sway the will of those following the Contingency. This solution came in the form of Sar'lira , daughter of Sypherian and budding member of the war council. Darkstar saw great potential in her, even with his minimal involvement in war council matters due to his injuries.
Sar'lira climbed up through the ranks, using her natural talents in moving through the shadows and deceptive tactics to take out key leaders in the Contingency, instead of simply cutting the head off the snake, which at this time was the Supreme Warlord Zin'ajaks, she precisely targeted generals and warleaders to disorientate and confuse the population, preferring to eliminate the popular figures over tactical geniuses.
This worked extremely well until Sar'lira finally saw it as time to take out Warlord Zin'ajaks. Throughout this process she was gaining a substantial amount of fame within the Empire, achieving pseudo celebrity status. Sar'lira was the tool the Empire needed to establish their strength again, as without a singular leader the people had no one to rally behind. After the Contingency's main leader was dethroned, Sar'lira had maneuvered all the pieces perfectly so Grand Admiral Var'tax, a long time friend of Sar'lira, to take control. Var'tax had a much more level head and he too was interested in uniting the two factions once again.
After Sar'lira was crowned Empress, the Contingency and the Sirasion Empire signed an agreement of allegiance. They would operate as separate factions but still help one another out in times of need as well as trade. Ideology in the Contingency is still far more extreme than the main Empire, but the two factions have learned to live and work together as one.
in more recent years, the Contingency has showed much interest in expanding beyond their measly territories, most of which they lost during the civil war. In an attempt to secure more resources for themselves they spearheaded an assault into the galactic core, conquering and in some cases outright eliminating The Skaronien presence that had effectively laid claim to much of the galactic core territories.
To the other factions, the Contingency as viewed as extremists, very un-trustworthy and always as putting Sirasion people before any others, as well as acting hostile towards other factions when approached or interfered with, if anything, they are more akin to the Sirasion Empire of the old times of the Great Uprising, both in scale and ideology. Though some also speculate they are using their allegiance with the Sirasion Empire to start their efforts of conquer-ship, or even collaborating with them directly as part of a master plan to eliminate all the other factions.
Demography and Population
The Contingency consists entirely of members of the Sirasion species with a very small exception to a few minor allied races. These allied races, while valued, are always considered lower class compared to the Sirasions. The superiority complex within the Contingency being far more prominent than in the Empire.
Due to the very warrior orientated ways of the Contingency, many Mok'zahl Sirasions who have blended into relative obscurity or been in hiding have resurfaced or defected to the Contingency, their ways being far more akin to the Mok'zahl lifestyle of old. Other Sirasion subspecies such as the Za'heel and Zor'khan have also began to re-appear, mostly within the Contingency.
Military
The Sirasion Contingency fight in a much different style to their imperial contemporaries, lacking access to a wardroid network, the Contingency have adopted more traditional land vehicles, designs created in the Empire in the early galactic war but then never used. Most of these designs are out dated and do not blend well with standard Sirasion tactics, forcing the Contingency to adopt more traditional methods of fighting such as armored columns and firing lines instead of the fast, hit and run style of fighting the Sirasions are known for.
But where the Contingency lack in strength on the ground, they make up for it in space. One of the main sources of trade for the Contingency is the trade of military star ships with the Sirasion Empire. The Contingency being settled in territory containing three of the biggest ship yards capable of producing Sirasion ships. Much of their income stems from outsourcing their facilities to build ships for other factions and companies. They also control a substantial amount of resources in their sectors, this mostly coming from their control of a portion of the un-tapped galactic core. Most of the ships the Contingency use are imperial in design but build in their ship yards, commonly the Sirasion Empire will submit a design to the Contingency and order a certain amount of ships, the Contingency will then be free to produce as many of those star ships as they like, all this means the Sirasion Contingency have a fleet that rivals the five major factions in scale and firepower despite their small size as a faction. This means that due to the amount of ships per territory they are able to keep an iron grip over their space, the likes of which the other factions are incapable.
Foreign Relations
the Contingency's relationship with the other factions is strenuous at best. the Sirasion Empire treat them as allies but keep them on a political short leash to stop their egotistical and warmongering attitudes to get too far out of control.
The Contingency respect the Empire's allies, The Necrophyte Dynasty as capable warriors, deliberately avoiding treading too close to their territories in order to maintain relations between themselves and them, as well as being aware of how highly the Empire regard the Necrophytes as allies. Though despite this, there are still some minor reservations with the fact that they are not of Sirasion origin.
Other factions such as The Rada Collective and Galactic Alliance view the contingency as stubborn and uncooperative, this is, again, mostly due to the Contingency regarding these two factions as lesser beings. Though despite their disdain for other beings holding the power, the Contingency are not fools. They are well aware of the might of the Alliance and Collective and tread carefully when operating outside their area of influence.
The only one of the major factions the Contingency has openly attacked is The Skaronien Council , the Contingency not being satisfied with the way the Skaronians were treating the galactic core operations and resources. The Contingency decided to take what they believed was owed to them by force, causing an outbreak of large scale skirmishes in and around the core worlds. The Contingency and Skaronians (and their sub factions) are visibly at odds with each other, the Contingency seemingly deliberately using them to make an example of their power.
Though the one thing the Contingency is in agreement with the other factions in is their hatred for the rogue group of Rada governed by Bashi, the usurper of the Rada Collective who was responcible for summoning the Great Worm Igsim
