Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Before his extensive cybernetic adaptations, Sal'tarn was a beast of a Sirasion, even by Mok'zahl standards. Towering above other Sirasions, he was capable of lifting several times more than the average for Sirasions. There were occasions of Sal'tarn tearing metal with his bare fists and even holding open a closing blast door. With his cybernetic adaptations he can do all that and much more, though his stamina is not what it used to be.
Body Features
Sal'tarn's reptilian body is ridden with clicking and whirring cybernetics, everyone being put there to repair the damage he suffered over the years as well as his near fatal experience over Kyran. Like all mok'zahl Sirasions he features prominent wings and a muscular structure, his horns are flat and blade like which despite his various incidents have remained intact. Both of his eyes are cybernetic, glowing a furious red. One of the most noticeable features of his cybernetics is his 'iron jaw'. After losing his jaw to an assassin droid Sal'tarn had it replaced with a tailor made cybernetic one. In the same fight he also suffered damage to his respiratory system, causing the jaw to be fitted with vents that discharge excess carbon dioxide in a steamy burst. Darkstar is known for controlling these releases to increase his intimidation factor when facing his opposition.
Apparel & Accessories
Sal'tarn's armour is of the highest quality, being specifically made for him. After becoming emperor his armour style didn't change. His armour displays heavy set pauldrons with energy blades jutting out from them, held together by an imperial crest. Attached to both of his forearms are his specially calibrated ceremonial warblades that are able to adjust their length according to his combat needs.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Sal'tarn was born before the galactic war, like many other Sirasions at the time he spent his early years helping to construct the Aegis Shield around Siran , when word came that the Empire would be making an explosive comeback to the galaxy Sal'tarn intermediately signed up for the imperial navy at age eleven, two years before he was legally able to do so, managing to fool the recruiters with his large stature, which was impressive evne in his early years. Sal'tarn proved himself time and time again in the face of adversity, working his way up from a deckhand, climbing through the ranks at a rapid pace. He was known for his iron resolve tenacity. He showed exceptional leadership skills throughout his service and was selected to be a captain at age seventeen, at the time being one of the youngest captains in the imperial fleet. He captained a Polaris Destroyer, the S.I.N Solar Wind, for the early part of the Galactic War before his skills were recognized by Emperor Zurrok himself, Sal'tarn and his crew were given a promotion to work on an imperial battleship, the S.I.N Galac'tar, with Sal'tarn as its captain.
it was on board the Galac'tar Sal'tarn met his eventual wife, Kir'asha, she was the crew chief of one of the battleship cannons. The two of them realized there feelings for one another during the great betrayal of price Terrix and were married by High Warmarshal Skar on board the Galac'tar, Which when Sal'tarn had first received the news that Zurrok had 'fallen ill' and Terrix was taking command, he charted a course for Skar's fleet which was set to flee Imperial space.
During the betrayal Sal'tarn and his wife had five children, however it came as a shock to all of them when Kirasha was killed in the battle to re-take Siran, The ships shields went down and several hits were landed to Kir'asha's gun turret, ending her life along with the entire gun crew.
Sal'tarn didn't let the loss of his wife get in the way of his devotion to the empire, while saddened greatly by the event he continued to serve on board the Galac'tar, his ageing mother looking after his children while he was out on deployment.
After Terrix's betrayal and the Dark Sirasion uprising had been taken care of, a super ship commissioned by the traitor prince was discovered nearly complete in a secret shipyard in the Tarak Sector. Under the command of the re-formed Sirasion Empire, the ship was completed. The massive hulking battleship was the largest warship the Empire had ever possessed, being equipped with state of the art stealth technology that Terrix had created, allowing the massive dreadnought to show up undetected anywhere in the galaxy. Because of this attribute, the ship was nicknamed the Darkstar, also because of the jet black paint job on the armour given by its former constructors, making it stand out in the rest of the fleet.
For his feats and achievements as a captain, Sal'tarn was promoted to an admiral, with his promotion came the control of the new Darkstar super ship. He quickly began to develop the nickname 'Sal'tarn Darkstar', a name cemented in his reputation.
As the war went on and new enemies joined the fold, Sal'tarn's eight children all served in the war, each of them eventually losing their lives to the fighting, the last two being killed while their ship was ambushed when they were on their way back to Siran to be discharged on the basis they had lost all their siblings. Sal'tarn tried his best to not let the loss of his entire family effect him, but losing his last two sons drove him over the edge. From here on a very different Sal'tarn Darkstar was observed, one of ruthless tactics and efficiency.
Sal'tarn would eventually re-marry, having a daughter named Nat'ira.
Darkstar would spearhead the assault of Necros Prime, home world to the terrorist organisation the Cult of the Blackfeather, he and several other commanders from the other factions would end up in the custody of Regenold, escaping his clutches and running riot on the planet before eventually being recaptured and baring witness to Regenolds master plan of absorbing the power of an Omega Power Node. After this Sal'tarn, along with the others, was sent back through a corruptive gateway to his factions home sectors. He ended up in Zurroks quarters on board the S.I.N Merciless with three deadly assassin droids following him through. He and Zurrok fought off the droids at the cost of Darkstar having his jaw ripped clean off by one of them.
Following the event, Darkstar declared he would return to Necros prime and exact his vengeance, which he did along side the rest of the major factions. in a long, bloody campaign Regenold was overthrown, Darkstar acting as supreme commander of all the forces in space, including those of the other factions.
After this mighty action and many others like it, a large portion of the Empires people had begun to look up to Sal'tarn as more of a leader than Zurrok, the political divide between the Empires people as well as the issued Zurrok was dealing with in regards to the Wendigo Syndrome that was spreading rapidly around the galaxy, Zurrok made the decision to appoint Sal'tarn Darkstar as the new Emperor.
Darkstar's first act as Emperor was to call a full scale assault on the Skaronien capital planet of New Skara, the intention only being to steal cloning technology, but the full scale assault cut such as hole in the Skaronian forces Sal'tarn capitalized and called in the full invasion fleet. The battle lasted for a long time and proved to be a bloody campaign and very nearly a loss for the Sirasions if not for the help of The Necrophyte Dynasty and theRada forces who were at first defending the Skaronians, going rogue and attacking their allies. The Sirasion forces were successful in causing the planets core to go into meltdown, thus destroying it entirely. This battle was the thing that cemented Sal'tarn as the peoples emperor.
Perhaps Sal'tarns darkest decision came toward the end of the Wendigo pandemic. Zurrok, who had dedicated himself to fighting the source of the plague and destroying it, had became trapped in a pocket dimension used by the Overman. While efforts went ahead to rescue him, Darkstar contact the Parafeud, an organization formed as a response to the virus. They were convinced, and had strong evidence to support it, that Zaliah , Zurrok's daughter, was the source of the virus and that she, as patient zero, was the only one to have overcame it, that her DNA contained the key to curing the whole galaxy, though the chances of her surviving the required procedures were very low. Zurrok was understandably against her sacrifice and wanted to find another way, and despite Darkstar being emperor he could not simply order Zaliah's execution for science. But with Zurrok out of the picture, Darkstar could now do as he pleased.
Darkstar in cooperation with the Parafeud personally moved Zaliah from the imperial medical station she was being treated and studied on to a new station set up by the Parafeud. To cover his tracks Sal'tarn called upon a pirate crew to destroy the station and kill everyone on board, removing any evidence of his presence there. Zaliah was taken to the new station and a cure was found for the Wendigo sickness and distributed across the galaxy, saving countless lives, at the expected cost of Zaliah's life. However to further cover up Zaliah's death, Sal'tarn blamed it on the pirates who he paid to attack the station, the entire Sirasion Empire turning against them. Before they had a chance to out Darkstar's lie, the new super ship, the S.I.N Kraken was brought to bare on their station, using its main cannon to totally annihilate their station and entire fleet, just to make sure none escaped, Sal'tarn tasked his personal death squad of Highguard warriors to hunt down and kill anyone who had a connection to the pirate group. Sal'tarn also had everyone on board the station Zaliah was taken to to have a cure extracted executed by himself and his Highguard squad, this included Parafeud and imperial personnel. This string of events deeply affected Sal'tarn, especially betraying his friend, Zurrok.
Noticing her father was becoming increasingly volatile, Sal'tarn's daughter Nat'ira ran away, leaving her post as imperial ambassador and going into hiding. One reason for this was thought by Sal'tarn to be that she had figured out what he had done to Zaliah, which would make her the only person alive to know about him committing what would essentially be considered treason of the highest order.
The beginning of the end to Emperor Darkstar's reign would be over the Rada capital, Kyran , as the final battle against Bashi took place. Sal'tarn was commanding the imperial space forces but became overwhelmed by the Rada onslaught, the S.I.N Darkstar taking significant damage and Sal'tarn himself gravely wounded when the bridge took a direct, un-shielded hit. Due to all the damage and cybernetic repairs Sal'tarn had undergone prior to all this, his survival was considered slim. He lead the Empire from the infirmary for a while but eventually gave control over to the war council. He would eventually undergo such heavy cybernetic surgery that it would essentially tie him to one location. He chose this location to be his ship, now only able to leave for short periods of time.
Darkstar, being the former Emperor, would have the final decision on choosing who would rule the Empire next, the up and coming Sar'lira would with his blessing succeed him on the throne.
Education
Sal'tarn was trained at the Imperial military academy on Siran, despite signing up two years before he was legally old enough he excelled in his learning, even when it was found out he hadn't completed his rite of adulthood his record was too good to get rid of, so he was allowed to stay on the condition he pass a separate trial alongside his rite of adulthood, set by the instructors. Sal'tarn was instructed to command a group of students of his choice in a tactical battle against a seasoned military captain's squad.
