Nilespace
Nilespace is an inhabited crystal sphere located within the Rapide Frontier. It is known for its people's worship of the Pharaonic Pantheon and is the subject of much debate as to whether or not the god Ptah originated from there.
Nilespace is located on a downstream Phlogiston current from @embersand is upstream of both Pillarspace and Seskotspace.
Of its five planets, only Geb is inhabited.
Geography
Nilespace is roughly 3,000 miles in diamter. At the center of the system is its sole star, Ra, which shares a name with one of the many names of Re-Horakhty, the Pharaonic god of the sun.
Orbitting around Ra are five planets. They are, in order from closest to furthest from Ra:
- Sabgu
- Ba'ah
- Geb
- Heru-deshet
- Her-wepes-tawy
Localized Phenomena
Despite the presence of the Pharaonic Pantheon, magic in Nilespace operates according to the astral standard found in other crystal spheres.
History
The nation of Kemet, today the largest and most influential nation on Geb, was founded around 3150 BCR.
The Kemeti obtained spelljamming capabilities about one thousand years after that. At first, the bulk of Kemeti spelljamming efforts were spent on the creation of their Flying Pyramids, which were designed to carry great pharaohs into the stars of the Astral Sea for eternity. The Kemeti also began trading and interacting with the wider spelljamming community, though the sacredness of their planet and the importance of religion to Kemeti prevented any wide scale migration off world.
Around 1000 CR, a group of giff first arrived in Nilespace. They were mistaken by locals of the system as the chosen people of Taweret, a pharaonic goddess that resembles a bipedal hippo. These giff chose to settle on Geb and accept the worship given to them, in time becoming the priests of Taweret they were mistaken for.
Kemet, and by extension Nilespace, stayed out of the First and Second Unhuman Wars. While Kemeti mercenaries were found on both sides, as a whole the system focused on protecting itself from any intrusion.
