Mindspace

Mindspace is a lightly inhabited crystal sphere located within the Rapide Frontier. Its name derives from the settlement of shardminds and collection of fragments of the Living Gate that have embued the sphere with greater-than-average psionic energy.
Mindspace is located on a downstream Phlogiston current from Mirrorspace, is upstream of both Crackedspace and Podspace, and shares a two-way current with Gardenspace and Arcanaspace.
Though the three planets of Mindspace are uninhabited, a society of shardminds have established themselves on a ringworld orbitting Haltus, the second planet.

Geography

In the center of Mindspace is a medium-size sun, referred to by the denizens of Mindspace as the Processor. Orbiting around the Processor are three planets. They are, in order from nearest to furthest:

• Orato, a gaseous planet with three moons
• Haltus, a large gas giant
• Sui, a barren earth world

While none of these three planets can support most life, there is a small ring world in orbit around Haltus called Salus. Salus contains all manner of life, from verdant fields to mountainous deserts to expansive oceans and is home to all manner of creatures.

Localized Phenomena

The barriers between the Material Plane and the other Inner and Outer Planes are particularly thin in Mindspace, a result of the large collection of Living Gate shards in the system. The shards have also had another strange effect in that they have psionically charged most of the sphere. Some visitors have reported having latent psionic abilities unlocked just by being in the sphere for weeks, while others report strange visions of the Far Realm and the horrors that come from there.
Due to the weak barriers between realms, Mindspace is a common entranceway for abberations from the Far Realm to warp themselves into the multiverse. Though the local shardmind population works tirelessly to halt any and all intrusions, some still slip through the cracks.

Fauna & Flora

On the ringworld Salus, a large group of shardminds have established a permenant settlement. These shardmind identify as Thought Builders, a faction of their species that seeks to assemble all of the missing fragments of the Living Gate to recreate it, sundering the multiverse from the Far Realm.
This particular settlement has existed for centuries as shardminds habitually leave to seek out more shards of the gate, returning to Salus with them in tow. It is not believed that the shardminds intend to actually recreate the Living Gate in Mindspace, but that cannot be stated definitively, as shardminds are emotionally distant towards other races and generally do not talk about their own affairs.

History

The first shardmind settlement in Mindspace was founded in 820 CR by a traveling group that was drawn by the psionic energy within the sphere. Overtime, this settlement grew into becoming a safe haven and gathering point for shardminds across the Rapide Frontier and its bordering spheres.
