Dusk

In the center of the Oush Savannah is the city of Dusk. It is known for being the central theatre of battle in Tumult's Demon Troubles and where the demon cultists were ultimately defeated. It is also the second city to push back the Second Mineosian Crusade in Tumult, the first being the city of Third.

Demographics

Primarily human, with an assortment of other races.

Government

It use to be run by a minor lord, but he was replaced by Andujar Szereban after the Demon Troubles for he was unfit to rule. Recently finishing a civil war and repelling a foreign invasion, Dusk is under marshal law. Otherwise it is a barony ruled by a lord.

Defences

Dusk has two key defenses, the bridge across the Oush River, and the fortress of the Lord of Dusk. Dusk is built on a strategic defensive position of the region, where it guards the best route across the Oush River. But defenses have been in disrepair since the early 10th century, thus it has long been forgotten of it being a stronghold once.

Industry & Trade

Wool and cotton are the industries of Dusk.

Infrastructure

Much of the infrastructure of the city was either destroyed or severely damaged during the conflict. They once had a prominent cathedral to the Pelorian Revival and moderately famous school of arts both lost in the conflict. They also had a famous bridge across the Oush River, but that too was destroyed by the Third Militia. Otherwise, much of the city is built for the cotton and wool industry of the region.

History

Founded around the construction of the Oush Bridge connecting north western Tumult (notably Gilburrow) with the rest of it. Founded first as a military stronghold, it quickly became a center of industry as land was cheap along the river and plantations began to emerge.   The notable moment of Dusk was in the Demon Troubles. Their was no particular reason why the city became the center of that conflict, no history of demonic activity or anything. The Lady of Dusk saw as an opportune place to set out to bring hell to Neih as it had little active resistance as well as many greedy and power hungry people she could manipulate. For nearly a decade, she infiltrated the political class of the city and took over from within. The great rift overtop the city during the Battle for Dusk did not open though until a cambion from the South named Sestycius joined the Lady. At the same time, mostly by coincidence (or fate), the Second Mineosian Crusade attempted to take the city to establish a foothold across the Oush River, followed by the Third Militia trying to stop them. This culminated into a civil war in 1040, ultimately ended with the death of the Lady and the expulsion of her master by Neih.

Tourism

The Tree Explosion in the center of the city is becoming well-known tourist attraction for Neih worship and Tumult patriotism. People from around the country visit it to see how Neih itself joined the cause of Tumult.
