Break

Break is the pride of the sundered, or those outside of the Church of Veritas. The sister cities sitting in the mountainous region of the Southern Farmlands are citadel cities known throughout the leaf. And they were founded during the Sundering without any influence from the church. The other archeological marvels of the world (such as the tower of Dakath) all had the influence of the church, but these two bastions were made completely independently. This desire to be unique gave the city a strange naming habit and artistic style. It is famously known for being the place where the green dragon were finally defeated during the Dragon Blight, Balmerrait Lord of the Green being captured here.   In the years of the Dormant Advance, the western army of the Dormant Cult were at a stalemate trying to take these two cities. When the Seraph was defeated in Tel'ul in the year 1041, the back of the Dormant Cult was broken and the invading army had to retreat as quick as they could. Not only did Break justifiably retaliate, the armies of the great nation of Tumult was marching their machine of war towards the Dormant Lands. While Break was by no means an ally, their city was "liberated" by Tumult and subsequently annexed though never officially. The city was too weakened by war with the Dormant for several years to resist.

Demographics

Mostly human, with minorities of the common other races.

Government

It is a direct democracy where the land owners gathered at an amphitheater to make political decisions.

Industry & Trade

Break manages the trade between the eastern and western portions of the Southern Farmlands. They also have a lot of mineral wealth, especially in stone and marble. Great architects come from these cities.

Infrastructure

The city is often called the city of walls, as these thick battlements take up much of the square footage of the cities. They make due with this limiting space by have the walls serve dual purposes as housing, markets, walkways, etc.

Geography

Both cities are built on hills that overlook a valley with a sizable river passing through. Each city shares their own side of the river, as the early years of Break the two strongholds were oppositional. This valley is also a mountain pass, thus becoming quite defensible.
